As a fan of the original series, and the reboot (and all shows in between)...I'd love to see another stab at it.
For all it's flaws, I enjoyed the 2009 movie. It found a clever way to reboot everything (albeit one that takes a leap of logic.).
Into Darkness, IMO, was a step back. Taking all that time to make a clean slate and....go backwards?
Pro tip: If I was an exec, I would have remade 'Space Seed', which ensures a remake of TWOK down the line. Just the same, I would rather they went into uncharted territory. (And I love Cumberbatch, but damn, cast someone else!)
'Beyond' hit a lot of good notes, and I'd like some more please. I genuinely like the cast enough to want more.
Ultimately, Trek works best on episodic TV. The original movies worked so well, because we had that character history. I think it's near impossible to do a character arc, and expect development in a 2 plus hour movie that has expected "pew pew" beats every ten minutes or so.
Clearly, Hawley wants to do something more cerebral and different. Given the state of flux that the franchise is in, I am hopeful, but won't hold my breath.

Not where I would bet my money if I were Hawley.

I'm ok with it ending with the three. Chekov is gone. I also got used to the exaggerated ship design, but the refit at the end of Beyond really toned it down. That over-the-top exaggeration kind of defined the Kelvin-timeline for me. Oh, and the lens flares. If they did continue it, they would have to make up for the toned-down ship with an equivalent amount of bright, blinding lights.

For me, "Star Trek: Beyond" was a bad ending for the Kelvin series. It wasn't a bad movie, but it was too much a normal 'episode' to be a finale. I always thought, that STXI was one of the more epic ST movies and I would wish a movie like this as a fourth film to get closure, when you know, what I mean. In this case, I wouldn't find it that bad if they would use another time travel story to end this parallel timeline and that would be it.

But with STB as its finale, I always will have the feeling that one part is missing. It will be like the TOS movie series without 'The Undiscovered Country'.

One movie that flops is "an experiment". 3 movies is a franchise.

It's a franchise, good bad and everything in between.

It's not, nor has it ever been.

That said, it does seem a little -- from the way you've posted here thus far -- like you want to wave your disagreement in the faces of those who hold different opinions... perhaps in hopes of provoking something a little stronger than a differing opinion? I don't know.

Spend some time in this forum, though, and I'm pretty sure you'll find a fairly broad range of opinions, not all of them favorable to the nuTrek / Kelvin Timeline movies. People generally manage to have a civil enough discussion despite those differences.

Sometimes, believe it or not, they even have fun digging deeper into the reasons why they've reached those particular conclusions, rather than leaving it at a flat "I didn't care for them. I didn't like the look of this, I didn't like the characterization of that, and I hated this other thing." I'd bet if you had been able to elaborate somewhat upon your reasoning, you'd instantly have more to talk about than whether or not the opinion of another agrees with your own.

Go on -- give it a try.

I strongly disagree with this. I shared an opinion, not a particuarly extreme one either, and for some reason this solicited direct responses from other people, which I then responded to. I had no intention of provoking anything.

So, my opinion's not good enough without a detailed explanation underpinning it? Where else is that evident anywhere in this thread? And apprently other people can criticise me but if I criticise them back I'm being uncivil enough for a public admonition from a moderator? I strongly disagree with this too, especially the passive-aggressive tone it's delivered in. I gave my opinion, apparently it's not good enough. Dreadfully sorry, but there we are. Delete it, block me, whatever. You're not really making me want to stick around and "dig deeper". In fact I'll do it for you. There. All gone.

Enjoyed each and every film individually and the casting was great! Would love to see those actors in future films. Couldn't give a hoot about it's 'universe' though and if it dies a death so be it.

Absolutely want to see more of this cast and these movies. I'm not the least bit interested in seeing them return to something more "traditional."

LOL like these movies aren't traditional Star Trek.

I'm done with the Kelvin crew. Give us something new and fresh. Star Trek goes Interstellar or Arrival. Something smart. No TOS, the Enterprise, a villain wanting to destroy Earth and or the Federation.

While the movies have grown on me through the years, no I would not want them to continue.

    Do another reset/boot/imaging.

Does Pine even want to do Kirk anymore? He not starving for projects.

Yes I would want it to continue. The cast seems eager to always return. It is paramount that does not have big faith in the cast and trek.

Very much so. If nothing else, Kelvin movies have got the casting and the core of the characters spot on IMO. At the moment it's my prefered (on air) Trek.

I don't know if the cinema will ever return in force. I hope so. I'd love to see more of the Kelvin verse movies, but I'd like to see them on a streaming movie or miniseries if that weren't possible
