The concept that all people of this race are like X is kinda racist when it gets down to it, and that sort of generalization crosses all series. Every so often they play against type, like Enterprise's emotional, meat-eating Vulcans or the radical-honesty practicing Romulans in Picard.

But it seems rare for the series to try to make that point with a main character. So I hope that they do explore what being Orion means for Tendi.

It's complicated because while aliens are stand ins for different groups of people, in universe they are entirely different species, and no one would ever say it's racist to say cats are loners and dogs are pack animals.

I didn't notice the first time around but caught it on a rewatch last night. It's a really nice touch.

There was also the "cigarette burn" mark in the corner denoting a reel change.

For the Lundy thing.. Maybe he had an bas experience with Orions in his career that led to him not liking them.
I'm sure if you made one with Kirk's personal logs and she was a Klingon you get the same result.
Guess that is a type of racism but not the one where he thinks he's better than her just because he's human but because of something happening.

But Becky did do some mild speciesism with some stereotyping that she's a pirate do something

This episode has the most 10/10s of any episode so far this season I think.

This is Trek fandom, we over analyzed the analysis of a science fiction show. ;)

Listen, the idea of analyzing a cartoon for kids is SILLY.

You'd have to be some sort of NERD for that.

There was an episode where we saw Picard and Guinan shooting targets on the holodeck.
Lower Decks is not for kids.

It was Worf and Guinan. "New Ground," I think. Picard did his Dixon Hill thing and rode horseback on the holodeck, but I don't think we saw him target shooting, and it doesn't seem a Picardesque thing to do.

We see him on the range with Riker in "A Matter of Honor" when he's trying to convince Riker to go on the officer exchange program.

^Yeah, that's the one I was thinking of. I was pretty sure it was a first or second season episode, but I was being lazy and didn't feel like trying to figure out which one.

We did see Picard and Guinan fencing against one another in "I, Borg."
