....and Kris Bryant injured his right oblique on one of his mammoth swings and misses.

His sub-Mendoza Line BA will be missed greatly.

How TF are we leading the division again?

The NL Central currently has 3 teams inside the playoff bubble, but I tend to agree it has the weakest potential playoff teams.

The Cubs could easily get skunked in a 3 game series, even at Wrigley, with the current offensive slump.

I kinda like the Sox, though. They look pretty tough for tge playoffs. They have a helluva lineup and their pitching isn't bad.

The 2020 White Sox could be like the 2015 Cubs, a little ahead of schedule and maybe next year they go all the way, but you never know. If they go on a homer-happy streak like they did against us, they could go far.

Jacob deGrom went seven innings, gave up four hits, struck out fourteen, and still took the loss because of the Mets' anemic offense. Someone please tell me again why we should assess pitchers by their win-loss records?

deGrom's bad luck is starting to get reminiscent of how back in 1964, Ken Johnson managed to eat a loss despite throwing a 9-inning no-hitter.

I think we should celebrate Rays' manager Kevin Cash's brilliant manipulation of his pitching staff that held a decent lineup to one run with a bunch of guys you've never heard of. :ouch:

Andrelton Simmons, a pending free agent has decided to opt out the Angels final few games due to COVID concerns.

I never understood why any guy who was on the last year of his current deal and not a top rung free agent would've opted in to begin with. 2020-2021 free agency is going to be brutal. Why collect a third of your salary in 2020, when you'll likely get it all in 2021?

Alex Gordon is retiring after 14 seasons and one World Series title in Kansas City. He wants to spend more time with his family and be able to eat pizza again.

Does the Astros get a pass for cheating??? I don't see threads that wants THEM to burn in hell after destroying the integrity of the game and still have their championship trophy and rings. It's disgusting!

Holy cow! Mitch Keller, the Pirates pitcher who was throwing a no-hitter and got pulled after six innings (and then watched the bullpen blow the game in the seventh), it happened again! They pulled him after five no-hit innings, and then the bullpen gives up three runs in the bottom of the ninth.

Of course, this time around, he had eight walks and also gave up a run in the first, so he was never going to be able to go all the way.

The Marlins have also clinched a spot in the playoffs.

Counting down to the inevitable post-season fire sale in 5... 4... 3...

If you feel that passionately about it, STEPh, then feel free to start your own thread.

IIRC, the original title of this thread (Timby changes it periodically just for fun) was "MLB Offseason 2019-2020: The Astros Cheated And Still Lost." And there's no love in here for what the Astros did, but if the commissioner's office won't do more than dole out a few slaps on wrists and one-year suspensions, what are we supposed to do? Bomb Minute Maid Park? Burn down Cooperstown? Write a strongly worded letter to my congressman? Quite frankly there's more urgent matters in the world right now than the Astros being cheating scumbags.

Manfred effed the whole thing up with the "slap on the wrist" punishment then basically protecting the cheaters from retaliation. It is what it is. He's a shit commissioner.

Hopefully enough teams get sick of his tinkering with the rules and call for his ouster.

It erks me sometimes when there's all out hate for the Yankees while there's MLB teams who deserve to be sh*t on. The Astros is a baseball topic and not the pandemic even tho I'd consider them to be a pandemic, but altho this thread is about the season I wouldn't forget what those bastards did last season and in 2017. Go Yankees!!! They had a great game today against Miami, 11-4 at the stadium.
