Loved this episode. The Q scenes were quite funny.

Very funny, very Futurama-esque episode. I loved all the references, which may make this less enjoyable when rewatched. The Tandi story was amazing.

No, one doesn’t equal the other. One results in the other. Is it the practice of dismissal or the terminology you have an issue with? Obviously there’s dismissal, as we’ve seen a number of times, so I guess it’s the terminology. I think that’s a very strange issue. I mean, if we required all phrasing to match the phrasing of previous episodes we’d be stuck with reruns of the Cage. I personally am fine with different characters at a different time on a difference ship under a different command from a different place saying things differently, just as I was when they did it in TNG, DS9, and every other series.

since when have we had a series focusing on the lower decks?

you seriously find it more realistic that starfleet officers can screw up without consequences?

Kirk "fired" and "rehired" Scotty in "The Apple," FWIW.

That whole thing with the alien prosecutor party host ranting about how Starfleet officers are the best of the best and always know everything that's going on...it's like they were lampooning half the BBS.

It should be called a discharge. Not a firing

No matter what the word used is, it means the same thing.

I like how Mariner is a “Kirk guy” while Brad is Picard.

Why? One is an official term, the other is a colloquialism. There’s a place for both.

    A solid 8.

It was dumber than a bag of hammers but damn, was it fun and make me laugh out loud. The number of callouts and references combined with the funny behavior of the characters made this one of the best so far.

Memory Alpha says that Kenneth Mitchell (from DSC) does a voice in this episode. Anyone know which character?

This is the first canonical appearance of Q since "Q2(VOY)." Nice to see he's still pulling the "humanity on trial" shtick just because he wants to troll us. He did tell Picard "the trial never ends."

That went by really fast. Also we got a full first name for Rutherford, Samanthan.

Hummm. After a pretty mediocre first half of the season this show keeps getting better and better every episode since ep 5. And of course this one was the best yet. Loved it

Meh. A few funny jokes and the Q stuff was great, but as an overall episode, the story went nowhere and fell completely flat at the end.

It wasn't bad, but not my favorite either. I liked that each of the four main cast members was given their own plot to shine in (aside from Boimler, who didn't really get a flashback). It was a nice change of pace from a Mariner-focused episode, or teaming them up on an A/B plot.

But I just didn't think it was all that funny I suppose? The sheer number of "memberberries" which don't have any plot significance (and aren't even funny) is starting to get tiresome. I liked Q and the Gorn, but the rest? Meh.

This one was great! The first one that made me guffaw several times. I thought the whole Danar discussion was golden! I just wonder how many causal fans get some of these references? Is the show as funny to them as to us geeks who have 800+ episodes memorized?
