I've always wondered why more people don't wear hockey player-type gear, like that guy who worked for the Governor did.

It is if they use more CGI Zombies. :rommie:

For a show like WD, an outdoor set can be established so the actors are living in an isolated community--Zombie hordes can be CGI'd and group shots can all be filmed at the same time. The season can be filmed all at once.

As revealed at the virtual Comic Con panel, the season 10 finale will air October 4. The panel also revealed season 10 will get an "additional six episodes" which will "hopefully" air in early 2021 but didn't elaborate on how this will be possible given season 11 still doesn't have a scheduled date for beginning production. Here's the panel if anyone's interested:

Thanks for posting the video. Good to know the S10 finale is not too far away from airing. However, that "additional six episodes?" How--exactly--does that fit into the season when the finale airs first, presumably addressing / wrapping up the Whisperer arc (the main arc of the season) which was starting in the last aired episode? Unless she's misdirecting and those 6 episodes are the forthcoming spin-off or the Rick Grimes films?

Yeah, I have no idea how the additional six episodes is supposed to work, or what they'll even be about. Best I can think up is maybe some sort of side story filling in what Maggie's been up to during season 10?

Hmm... Okay... The Carol & Daryl thing could be good, but I think they really need to work on getting Carol's head screwed on straight in the upcoming final season. I don't think that show will last too long if she continues to go around putting her friends in constant danger because she has a major death wish. Something profound needs to happen to her. Still sounds more interesting than the upcoming teen spinoff World Beyond, but I'll give them all a try.

The anthology one sounds good too. It's worked pretty well for American Horror Story for many years now, so why not? :)

I'm pretty happy about the Carol & Daryl series, they've always been two of my favorite characters.
The anthology series could definitely be interesting. I would love to see them do so stories set in other parts of the world.

I'll be sad to see this show go, but everything ends eventually, and eleven seasons is nothing to sneeze at. And if they keep the quality of the two most recent seasons up in the eleventh season, it'll definitely be ending on a high note. In the grand scheme of things, that's something to be damn proud of.

A Daryl and Carol spin-off I'm somewhat cautious about. I love both characters, but I'm not sure there's enough to warrant their own spin-off. Maybe if it's a limited series sort of thing of just a season or two like World Beyond is going to be, I can see that. I'll put this idea on the wait and see category.

The anthology series on the other hand sound like a very interesting idea. I'm 100% onboard for this.

Hmm. It's already the Carol & Daryl show. I wonder if this means they will go on the road again-- and if that means good or bad news for the settlements. Hopefully it's a "Our work here is done" type of situation.

Ah, now this is what I've been looking for since that first midnight showing of Dawn of the Dead in 1979.

    Season 10 - Episode 16 - "A Certain Doom"- SEASON FINALE

Daryl & Judith: Daryl has no tolerance for Negan's BS at all, but on the Carol front, when she said "i'm here," he shot her a look, and with the New Mexico talk coming up again, that's setting the spin-off in motion.

Beta / Whisperers: Before it happened, I wondered why the heroes--knowing that living people are among the Whisperer horde--would use rifles to target any obviously living people, so their screams of pain would instantly draw the walkers to eat the wounded....and that's what happened...only with arrows. Good stuff. Beta could not possibly kill the wounded and/or redirect the walkers from their natural instinct.

Negan / Lydia: Sharp of Lydia to see where Carol's mind could have been drifting toward (surrogate mother--again) and break the idea on the spot. I was not convinced she would convince Negan to become a hero, but it was a pleasant surprise to see her join the others--and save Carol. In a season filled with strong character moments, this may have been the best.

So, Negan finally came through, and in the biggest shock of all, its Daryl who not only saves the man who murdered Glenn and Abraham (at the top of a long list), but he ends Beta's freakish, worthless ass. Potent scene.

Ezekiel / Eugene / Yumiko / Juanita / "Princess": Ezekiel's little speech was the motivator sad sack Eugene needed, but it was a bit self-serving, since he's thinking he will die out of the sight of those he cares about most.

No Stephanie, but armored guards with not markings linking them to any other WD series...yet.

Father Gabriel / Maggie: I love how Father Gabriel has turned into such a strong leader. That is real character growth from the way he was introduced in 5A. I expected Maggie's return, but not in so satisfying a way as saving Father Gabriel, just when I honestly believed he was going to be killed.

...and the masked fighter. He or she has to be someone of note. The series is building he or she up too much not to have a memorable payoff.

NOTES: Moving through the horde actually restored some of the menace they lost over time. I was just waiting for one of the main characters to slip up... Poor Beatrice--most of the original Oceansiders were killed off, and now she joins them. Horrible way to go.

Connie lives--and is rescued by Virgil. Now it has me wondering what he's doing so far away from home--again, and is the tease for the Rick movie, with Virgil dropping hints well into season 11?

For its 10th anniversary, it could not have topped this level of justified character behavior and action; no one just committed some act just to fill a scene or the hour. If the 11th--and final season is as lean and solid as this one, The Walking Dead will hold on to its crown as the greatest fantasy series of this century.

Fear the Walking Dead returns on 10/11 at 9 p.m.

^ Very nice summary and analysis. I agree that that was a good episode and some very worth while character moments. Very enjoyable episode and a nice setup for next year. 8/10

So this finale is no longer the finale right? They're adding extra episodes?

Yeah, 6 more episodes for season ten and then a total of 24 for season 11-- so we've got 30 episodes to go, which will last into 2022.

Excellent episode providing closure to the Whisperers arc and setting up for the new storyline with the mysterious soldiers in white armor arriving at the spot Eugene was supposed to meet Stephanie. Also, we got Maggie back with an equally mysterious masked stranger. Also Connie is revealed to have survived the cave-in and has been found by Virgil, intentions currently unknown.

Beta's death had a strange beauty and elegance to it, and the scene with Carol leading the Walker herd off the cliff along with her brief contemplation of going over herself was a really well done and emotional scene itself. Interesting they seem to be setting up some sort of deeper relationship between her.

The only real flaw with this episode is one that is by no means its own fault, that being it really isn't meant to be presented as a sort of one-off special, it clearly is meant to be seen with the preceding episodes. But that of course is a situation forced on the show by the unfortunate circumstances of 2020 and there's not really anything that can be done about that.

I thoroughly enjoyed the season 10 finale. What Beta was experiencing as he died was a highlight, and I loved that Negan seemed to have finally recognized him. I was sorry to see Beatrice fall. Negan and Lydia redeemed themselves nicely.

I think it remains possible that Princess is connected to Stephanie's group, who are presumably the soldiers in white, but we shall (presumably) see next season. Also, I couldn't help but suppose that the soldiers in white might help to fight the soldiers in black.

NO, he's quite right. AMC ordered an additional 6 episodes for season 10 (just a short time ago) as the pandemic still rocks everything. The 6 episodes are going to be shown sometime in 2021 with the 24 episode season 11 sometime in 2022 and 2023.
