Very cool seeing TNG movie uniforms but it brings up the question of how old Mariner actually is. They were referencing Lore and Hugh like it was new, but that happened 3 years before the uniform change.

The Lore Borg stuff was probably declassified years later.

The FC communicators are drawn with the gold part behind the arrow, so they went to the LD design with just the arrow after Nemesis and then back to the old version again in the PIC flashbacks?! XD

Comedy is rapid fire. It's also designed so you'll rewatch the episode and try to catch them all like Pokemon.

Ehhh, it's a bar story. Presumably Mariner hasn't seen her friend since said event. So it could be a 3 year old story she hasn't heard.

I am getting the impression Mariner is in her mid twenties and not newly twenty, though. Certainly old enough to have served in the Dominion War.

Definitely my favorite episode of the season so far. Now I got a feel for Mariner's whole attitude about things after that incident with her old crewmates on DS9. PTSD can be a bitch to deal with and many people deal with it in their own ways. Rated this one a 10 this week because why not?!

Tawny Newsome, the VA for Beckett Mariner is 37 y/o.

We know that Mike McMahan liked Tawny's personality so much, that he wrote Beckett to be just like Tawny.

But assuming Beckett has served on 5 ships and has been demoted several times, I could believe that Beckett is 37 y/o.

Then Boimler is seriously misjudging her age or he's part-Vulcan and older than he looks.

I am pretty confident that Boimler does not know the age of Beckett. He is the village idiot. He is the kind of guy who makes assumptions which later bite him in the ass because for whatever reason he couldn't be bothered to check if what he believed was correct. For a week, he thought he was pissing into the toilet when, in fact, it was a sink and who offended an Lortian by touching its egg sac.

Boimler is far from an idiot as he completes superhuman tasks of efficiency as long as he is given strict direction and timing. The issue is Boimler has no social skills.

And Ive seen sinks on Earth that look like toilets!

When I use the phrase "village idiot", this is the sense I use it in: A popular term for a person, of presumably normal intelligence, who behaves in a socially awkward or
    unintelligent way.

I believe that the only people who have no social skills are the dead. Everyone else has some degree of social skills.

I have a question, what was the thing about Boimler's get-up? He asked the computer to create him a mishmash costume out of the coolest fashions from Earth's history. I couldn't make sense of the whole ensemble and I had difficulty with the slang.

More questions, as Docent listed past missions of the Vancouver, he mentioned that the crew of the starship had murdered an individual of the past who was worse than Adolf Hitler. Would this be the first time we heard of Starfleet ordering one of their ships on an assassination mission and would this be a violation of their principles regarding time travel?

Nope. Though I sincerely doubt Mariner is 37.

This came up in another thread. Boimler saying they are the same age doesn't necessarily make it so. Plus, it's common to think of other people being in your age group when they are actually a couple of years younger or older than you. My guess is that Boimler is like 20 to 22 and Mariner is 25 to 27.

Especially when humans are living a century and a half. "My age" is pretty relative.

Just finished watching it. I thought this was the strongest of the bunch. It was certainly the one I enjoyed the most. I thought it was sweet, funny, and quite ‘Trek’. Tendi is bestdi.

Another possibility is that Mariner is the "Anti-Wesley Crusher", who was smart enough to join Starfleet at a young age, thanks to her parents' influence, but simply rebelled later on when she became a cynical adult.
