Yes, Helstrom is still happening. Here's the trailer for the first and only season.

I'll still never forgive Hulu for not picking up Ghost Rider.

Did I miss it or is there no Marvel logo in the trailer?

Suicide is not a sacrifice on the part of the one trying to obtain the Soul Stone. If Gamora killed herself, it would not be a loss to Thanos in the sense that he had no part in losing someone he cared about. To that end, Hawkeye should not have obtained it because Black Widow was determined to kill herself, so Hawkeye did not technically lose her due to his own intent / desire.

Probably. The desire to have that stone speaks to the kind of darker personality who would want its particular kind of power.

Actor Peter Shinkoda, who played Nobu on Daredevil, said his character got sidelined because Jeph Loeb told the writer's room not to write for Nobu and Gao because no one cares about Chinese and Asian people.

Damn, you beat me to it. I was just about to post this article about Shinkoda's claims.

“Jeph Loeb told the writer’s room not to write for Nobu and Gao,” Shinkoda said. “This was reiterated many times by many of the writers and showrunners that ‘Nobody cares about Chinese people and Asian people. There was three previous Marvel movies—a trilogy called Blade—where Wesley Snipes kills 200 Asians each movie; nobody gives a shit, so don’t write about Nobu and Gao,’ and they were forced to put their storyline down and drop it.”

And honestly, I'm not surprised at all considering some of the shit Loeb has said and done.

Edited to add: I haven't watched the whole thing yet (will do so later), but during the five minutes they talk about it (as cued up by the io9 article around the ten minute mark), a lot of things come up, including Tommy Walker's assertion that originally some of the ideas developed for Iron Fist were much more progressive than what was eventually produced.

Not that this is really important with what is being alleged but I only remember a significant number of Asians in the first Blade movie. Just compounds the stupidity and ugliness if this claim holds up.

Loeb's obviously been out of his mind since his son died, but Marvel kept him around because Perlmutter knew he was a Yes-Man and anyone else might not be.

I'm still wondering just how the Disney folks were able to override Perlmutter and remove him from power so Feige could get everything and fire all of Perlmutter's followers. Whatwith Perlmutter having 1/3 of all Disney stock.

Perlmutter isn't even the Marvel CEO anymore.

This just makes me happier that Marvel TV as it was is dead, and is being "reborn" under the main MCU. Fuck Loeb, and hopefully Marvel's TV shows (live action and hopefully animated) do better under new people, it seems like it would be hard for them to do worse.

Not that I've seen. Most of the graphics are from the panels at the big cons, and since they haven't done panels, we haven't gotten any.

Semi-reliable rumors that Marvel was finally able to sign Hailee Steinfeld for the Hawkeye series that they want to start filming later this year. Keep your fingers crossed.

Wow, that's a quick turnaround. Just last week I saw some website quoting an industry insider saying she was out of the running, and had been for a while. Goes to show you the value of rumors. We should all just wait for official announcements.

Ah, thank you for the quote - I knew I remembered the sacrifice line from Infinity War and was bothered by the way the Natasha/Clint thing played out in Endgame.

The only way that line applies to Endgame is if the person who sacrifices someone and the one losing that which you love don't have to be one and the same - Natasha sacrificing herself, but Clint losing her results in him getting the stone. And Gamora doesn't sacrifice herself in order to get the stone, the other way around, she wants to kill herself/sacrifice herself for Thanos not to get the stone.

(Still would have preferred it the other way around because it's IMO a misogynistic move to kill off the female character who tried everything to keep it together, to atone, and save the male character who went around 5 years killing people just because he has a family and she doesn't in the end.)

You're speculating, which is fine, but I don't think it still fits with what actually happened. Sacrifice what you love to get the stone. Hawkeye didn't sacrifice a thing.

I think that of all the adjectives that can be given the Marvel movies, misogynistic isn't one of them. Technically, you can make the argument the other way if Hawkeye died. It's misogynistic to have the male be the hero who gives himself up for the female, despite having a family. Or, and I think this is the reality, it just isn't misogynistic at all--it was just a story point.

Unless there is some overtly intentional thing, like the pandering scene in Endgame, it's not worth doing anything but being entertained. And even the pandering scene, while blatant, didn't detract from the movie other than for a short period.

Aside from these obviously messed up allegations, I quite liked much of Marvels TV shows. I'm sure I'll enjoy the Disney+ stuff as well, but Agents of SHIELD, Agent Carter, Punisher and Daredevil were awesome, Jessica Jones and Luke Cage were amazing when they were on their game, Runaways and Defenders were fun, Cloak & Dagger was good, Helstrom looks promising, even Iron Fist got better in its second season. Sure they had Iron Fist season 1 and Inhumans in there, but overall I'd say they could have done much worse.

Honestly, the Marvel TV shows really didn't do it for me at all. They felt too slow paced and bored me a lot. I enjoyed Killgrave on Jessica Jones, but couldn't get through Season 2. Punisher--made it through about 4 episodes. Never watched Season 2 of Iron Fist. Defenders was ok. Daredevil was the best of the bunch but even that was very slow.

Agent Carter and SHIELD had their ups and downs, but I thought they were better, and I am really enjoying SHIELD's final season. SHIELD also may have been hurt by long delays between seasons and might be more entertaining on a rewatch. The biggest disappointment for me was Coulson not being re-introduced into the movies--even as a cameo.

Don't really want to open up this can of worms again, but I think all they have to do is remove the dialogue from that sequence and then it flows naturally with the action. I think there would have been much less complaining.

It was the visual. It was SO blatant that it wasn't about the story but about pandering. And it was unnecessary. The women heroes kicked so much ass in these movies. That whole moment kind of grinded things to a halt for a bit. It didn't ruin the movie or anything like that--but it happened. I'll have to watch the scene and try to ignore the dialogue and try to see your point. Which lines should be ignored?
