Another ugly, badly-designed CBSTrek Federation starship. Who would have thought!

I especially love the "oh so clever" pun of this giant arrow pointing to the "Lower decks" part of the ship... but because of the moronic design they didn't want to the crew to have to travel through the nacelles all the time, they just put them at the back of the ship.

    No it isn't.

It literally has people needing to travel through the nacelles to get to the secondary hull. wtf? :wtf:

Did Eaves design it? It wouldn't surprise me, his usual pointless cutouts are present and accounted for.

    More cutouts spotted!

Then don't state yours as if it was fact either. I at least provide reasoning. Ships don't just need to look nice they need to look functional. Having people travel through either nacelle just to get to the secondary hull is not good design.

And why are the nacelle pylons so long, and look like they were super glued onto the hull? The shading is all over the place.

    I didn't.

He hasn't listed the show on his site, so I don't think so.

He's working on the other cartoon that is made for Nickelodeon, we know that.

Yup...that was exactly what the memo called for.

Why use a childish moniker like that? And CBS has had a hand in Star Trek since the 90s...

I actually believe those to be an error made by the artist who may have been looking at some orthos and didn’t know what they were seeing - a mis-interpreted phaser strip, inverted. This picture may be a lot more accidentally stylized and not as reflective of the true design as we may think. We’ll know in a month...

Yes you did. You said "It's a great design." - not "I think it's a great design"

Great memo that excuses you for bad work.

What's childish about it? It's like when people called the Kelvin timeline films JJTrek or JJverse.

It looks like other Trek ships I've seen...
    Always found that childish.

I like how their pointless nacelle strut cutouts make the structural integrity of the ship even worse. Slice those off and you cripple the ship. I know it's "just" an animated show, but that doesn't mean they can't employ good, functional design.

Again, ok...hulls have been shown to be pointless without shields and structural integrity fields.

I'm all for functional designs but Trek left that behind a while ago. Bitching about nonfuctional design in Trek is like going to a steak house and complaining about the smell of meat.

Is there a trailer yet? Seems odd that there isn’t one with a month to go.

Oh come on. It's nothing like that.

It gets to the point where you shrug your shoulders at new Trek so often the quality of the whole productions comes into question. Why can't Trek be better?
