Just started it. In the Litverse, was the last time Kirk and Nogura met was the post Vanguard debriefing?

I thought it was great. So many neat sequences to visualize. Hope more stories (this is kinda, sorta, Seekers 5) continue.

And I love a Sam Axe reference.

I realized that I hadn't yet read Seekers 4, which is mentioned in the Historian's Note at the beginning of Agents of Influence. I had read the other three Seekers books but never got around to this one. So I'm plowing through it before I start Agents of Influence. I know I don't have to read Seekers 4 before reading this new novel, but I've been meaning to read it for awhile. Plus reading these two books back-to-back may prove to be interesting.

You're not alone Reanok, my copy is stuck somewhere in Illinois (and has been for three days) and likely won't arrive here in Cleveland anytime soon.

    :klingon:

You would think that in this day and age, stuff would ship a bit faster than that.

I liked it. A bit of a slow start (but no more than, say, a typical ADF novel), but yesterday morning, getting near the end, it was compelling enough to make me late for work.
I would like to have had a bit more of Mi'zhan/Ivan Tomkins before we abruptly found out he was the saboteur.

Incidentally, the references to a recent Klingon war other than the one that the Organians stopped before it started, and a Klingon agent other than Darvin infiltrating the Federation, tripped me up until I just now -- after finishing and shelving the present opus -- realized that the entire first season of DSC had slipped my mind.:alienblush:

I've read 9 chapters and really like how Captain Khatami and her Endeavor crew members appear in this book is well done and very clever. I'm so glad we get to have Vanguard Characters again in TOS books. It's so cool to read about what they've been up to since Seekers book 4.

My mind went right to literary Trek and I figured they were talking about Donatu V and the "Errand of Vengeance" trilogy.

I didn't even think about DSC, and I'm a fan. Whoops!

It was the other way around for me -- over on the Facebook Timeliners'-group, I posited that those references in Dayton's new book were to Ash Tyler, but then upon discussing it with other members, came to think that it might've in fact been referring to "Jon Anderson"/Kell from Kevin Ryan's first Errand of... trilogy, due to Voq/Ash Tyler being something of a renegade operation undertaken by L'Rell without Kol's knowledge on the TV show, whereas Anderson (as well as "Ethan Mathews") were fully-trained recruits operating with the full sanction of Imperial Intelligence aboard Kirk's Enterprise (and who Chancellor Kesh stood a much greater chance of being aware of).

Maybe Dayton can sort this one out for us?

Those "Errand of..." books had their flaws, but I thought both trilogies were very entertaining.

So was Mr, Ward referring to Donatu or the DSC conflict?

I think we'll need to wait until he notices the thread.

I'm just trying to reconcile myself with the idea of Endeavour getting a brand new bottom half, but only having it for a year or two before it was gutted to the rafters for the movie-era conversion.
