Maybe this would be 'controversial' but, as near as I can tell - Trump has not a single redeeming characteristic. Egotist - check! Misogynist - check! Ideologue - check! Racist - check! Moron - check! I mean, even Hitler had a few redeeming characteristics... Great Orator - check! Loved animals - check! Loved kids - check! Vegetarian - check! Tea totaler - check! Killed Hitler - CHECK! Not really trying to make light of this mess but still...
It looks like things were pretty much peaceful last night, so that's good. I watched some of the stuff in LA on CNN and it was definitely tense, but things went well. They did eventually start arresting people, but it from what I saw that was about it. Things definitely still appear to be tense, and I'm afraid it won't take much to set things off again.
Houston had some tense moments but, it settled down here as well. For the most part, HPD and the Mayor have made it clear which side they're on.
The Houston mass march yesterday was very peaceful, for the most part. In the 'burbs, where I live, it's business as usual--very quiet. But this area is always a pretty mellow place. Hubby was at the university yesterday and it was quiet as a ghost-town.
I didn't hear the speech, but apparently the Secretary of Defense has said he's against using the military to stop the protests, and they send the troops in DC home, so those are good signs.
And he met the President and proved that he's a weak excuse for a man... Immediately turned around 180 degrees. Really makes me feel great knowing that the current head of our military is both a coward and has no honor.
Ties in well with that scene in H.G. Wells' "The Time Machine" when the protagonist visits the "end" of the world. He witnesses a myriad of crab-like creatures skittering into the ocean.
