I'd personally like a Tellarite crew member on Strange New Worlds. Very little has been done with them considering they were founding members of the Federation. There were a handful of guest characters in Enterprise, but never anyone recurring (at least Shran allowed for a bit more fleshing out of Andorians - Tellarites got nothing similar). The use of Tellarites in Discovery basically amounted to props. Basically it's still wide open.

When I was first getting into Trek during the reruns of the various shows I assumed that the Tellarites were supposed to be the "Space Dwarves" to the Vulcan's "Space Elves" (the Romulans are the "Dark Elves/Space Drow") and I was kinda disappointed that they never were used like that (or much at all)
So Yeah, I'd be on board with a Tellarite.

Retconning Colt into an alien does make one wonder how the Talosians expected to breed her with Pike. My theory is Colt somehow turned into an alien after using Krall's life extension tech in Star Trek Beyond in an offscreen incident.

EDIT: I meant "SNW" here as in Strange New Worlds, not "STW". No real explanation why I wrote it wrong like this, other than it was late and I was tired. And I'm an idiot, but y'all's know that by now...

Have the STW Romulans be "Debrune". The only reference to the Debrune is a throwaway line from TNG Gambit Part I about being an ancient Romulan offshoot, so there's room for re-interpretation there. You can say that this Debrune civilization is located near Romulan space, so it can be assumed that sometime after Balance of Terror the Debrune joined (or were annexed into) the Romulan Empire. And since it's already common knowledge at this point in the timeline STW takes place that there are several Vulcanoid civilizations out there (whose ancestors rejected Surak's teaching and left Vulcan), it works.

Now the question I have is... what type of Klingons are going to appear in STW? I bet they do what Picard did with the Romulans and just mix it up. You'll see some Disco Klingons, some original movies/TNG-era Klingons, and several somewhere in between. I liked the look the K'vort Klingon character from the Disco season 2 final episode (played by Disco makeup department head Glenn Hetrick) - it was a great mix of the Disco and original movies/TNG-era elements.

There is a whole storyline in "Early Voyages" comic series that covers this and I think would be an awesome plot line, as well as showcase why Spock swings back towards the Vulcan way.

Colt heroically merged with an alien lifeform to save its life and became a human-alien hybrid in a previous adventure. That's the explanation I've come up with anyway.

Humans and aliens breed in Trek all the time. No mystery and no explanation needed.

No it doesn't. Spock, B'Lanna, B'lanna's baby, Key'ler (Worf's love interest-can't remember her name), Romulans and Klingons, Romulans and humans, Deanna Troi.

    It's a long list.

Colt also wasn't explicitly called Colt in dialogue, so if they really wanted to, they could ignore that the character was identified as Colt in the credits.

Or just a phonetic misspelling of the alien's indigenous name, which is obviously Q'ohl't. :D

I more or less expect that to be the case.

Yeah I mean it was pretty much just a homage to the Cage character, so assuming the scale faced woman is gonna be a character (which I hope) she might neither be called Colt, nor be a yeoman.

How about this: since we never learn Dragon!Colt's first name, maybe she's the wife of the human Colt from the Cage and took her last name upon merriage.
