Got the aspect ratio fixed. It’s hidden on the details page. Now the Simpsons Player is complete

Now I can finally watch The Simpsons on D+. I refused to do so as long as the aspect ratio was wrong.

I'm hopping that maybe this will convince them to start showing the 4:3 versions on TV too. I watch the cropped versions on FXX, but I would really prefer to get the original versions.

Thank you @thribs for the heads up on changing the aspect ratio for the Simpsons. I wonder if Vudu will ever give us the same options for their seasons of the Simpsons digitally available too to buy on their service someday?

Strangely omitted on Disney+ The old Muppet Show, and the original Watcher in the Woods from 1981.

    I wonder why.
    Many thanks all,

I think the general assumption on The Muppet Show is that there are huge music rights issues to overcome.

Three more episodes of Disney Gallery The Mandalorian in the first three weeks, and then all 6 episodes of the Making Frozen 2 show drop on the same day. More and more classic Disney shows showing up every month. And even animated Disney Tarzan movies. And some tiny little movie called Infinity War. The Greeks Season 1 was listed as June 5 in the press release, but June 26 in the video, so hopefully it'll make one of those two dates.

Infinity War isn’t already on it? That’s a odd thing to omit. It’s on the uk one.

Infinity War was on Netflix, part of Disney's deal with the service prior to the creation of Disney+. At least here in the US, Netflix got those movies for something like eighteen months after they debuted on the service.

I'm assuming the X-Men movies on HBOMax is probably part of the deal that's preventing Disney from putting New Mutants on Hulu or Disney+.
There's a lot of Muppet and Muppet related stuff that's missing.
Along with The Muppet Show, The Muppets Take Manhattan, the original Muppet Babies, The Jim Henson Hour/MupettTelevision, Muppets Tonight, Muppets from Space, and Dinosaurs. The first three seasons of The Muppet Show, Muppets from Space, and Dinosaurs have all been released on DVD. MuppetTelevision, Muppets Tonight, the original Muppet Babies, and the last two seasons of The Muppet Show have never been released on DVD. The Muppets Take Manhattan and Muppets from Space are both streaming on IMDB TV at the moment, but most of the movies on there seem to only be on there for a short time, so they'll probably be gone pretty soon.

Thanks @JD. I have the first 3 seasons of the Muppet show on DVD. I never realized there was that many Muppet programs. Hopefully it will be available someday streaming and on disc too.

Just a heads up on Disney + I just saw the documentary called Waking up Sleeping Beauty about the animation department and the trials of making all of Disney's biggest hits from 1984 to 1994. Turning Disney around from failures to successes. A great documentary seriously.

I just watched it because I know a lot of the cast and crew that were on it. I was working on another film in London at the time, everything I heard was that the shoot went fine. I wonder what happened in post that delayed it so much. I enjoyed it, I never read the books though. Felt rushed at the end and wasted time setting up the sequel that I doubt ever comes.

Yeah, as a fan of the books from way back when they were coming out (the first book coming out when I was 11ish), the movie basically shits on everything. Just reading about what they've changed, this will go down as one of the worst book adaptations ever, with the movie specifically going against most of the themes, plot and character of the books. Its mind blowing that someone could do such a bad job, everyone involved not only didn't give a crap, it honestly feels like they legitimately hated the source material, its that bad.

They literally take plot points that involve huge character development, and ruin them. Artemis acts like a generic kid, when he was specifically not supposed to be that, he's a criminal genius who is disdainful of childish things and his character growth in the series is to go from a very smart but arrogant asshole to a person who uses his gifts for good. A big part Holly the Elf's personal story in the book was about fighting misogyny as the first female LepRecon officer, but in the movie her boss Commander Root is played by Judy Dench, so that whole plot is gone. Artemis's butler, named Butler, very specifically hides his first name to keep personal distance from his employer, only telling Artemis his name as he lays dying in the third book, its a huge moment for both of them and their relationship, but in the film he wants people to call him by his name all the time. I could go on and on, but this was some of the stuff that jumped out immediately as horrific.

This is already going down among book fans as a Percy Jackson level of shit book to film adaptation, and while I don't know those books/movies they seem to be pretty comparable to AF when it comes to how badly they got adapted. Its not looking like this shit is getting a sequel, which is nice. Hopefully in 10 years it will get another chance as a TV/streaming show adaptation that actually follows the books, like what is happening with Percy Jackson now.

I thought it looked pretty good, but after reading IGN's review and hearing what you've said, and for once it sounds like you have real legitimate complaints, I'm not sure if I'm even going to bother.

This is definitely one case where I share the majority opinion on the film (at least the majority opinion of people who have read and enjoyed the books like I did). It seems like people who don't know the books consider it a tolerable kids film, but if you know anything about the books its actually almost impressive how much it screws around and misses the point of both the first book and the AF series in general.
