Ok, so, I've built one and my kids have built one each. My son also bought a Mace Windu 'legacy' saber.

They all take the same type of blade.

    a) this will depend on which you choose. Mine vary from 1 7/8" to 2 1/2" at parts.
    b) yes, you can remove the blades. We removed the blades and my kids wore their sabers from their beltclips. (also sold at Galaxy's Edge of course)

    c):

Windu legacy: 10 1/2" long (this has a stopper/cap that fills something of the blade void if there's no blade inserted)

    customs:
    Protection & Defense: 11 3/8"
    Peace & Justice: 11 3/4"
    Power & Control 11 3/4"

It's important to note that all customs can be made of various components which will make them all about the same length with minor variances. There's only probably about 24 different possibilities though and they're all within 1/2" in length I bet.

The blades they give you are 34 1/4" long. They sink (and twist-lock) into the sabers about 3 1/8". Putting one and locking it into the 'peace and justice' makes it about 42 3/4" long'.

These are approximates, I didn't treat it like a math or geometry test. Hope it helps!

Perfect. I can now buy an extendable tube carrier for it for the plane coming home. I can’t wait to go!

Safe travels and have a great time! I'm sure you'll enjoy it.
Also, I would hold off on buying a 'spare' blade. All reports say that the ones provided are quite sturdy. We've done some play 'dueling' at home and they hold up fine.

(you also get a holder for your hilt and blade that has foam pads - it's meant to be worn on your back. You might be able to get away with it as a carry-on.)

That's pretty cool, it reminds of the old cheats they used to do in video games where you had to put in certain button combinations on certain screens. I wonder what other alternate modes they have?

I really hope they make a legacy saber of Leia's. I want one, it looked nice.

I imagine the people at Ultrasabers and Saber Forge are already working on a version of Leia's lightsaber.

I'm keeping an eye out for one. I want to have all the lightsabers of the Skywalker family.

I have had numerous friends visit Galaxy's Edge. I must confess I am underwhelmed by their videos and pictures. It's just another Disney Park "Theme" area. Maybe it's more enthralling in person.

From what I remember it is suppose to be immersive.

So, this triggered a memory of a post I saw on Reddit and I was in luck and saved it. It's from a 41 year old fan describing their experience. Don't know if it will help, but I found it very intriguing:
First, a quick tidbit about me. I’m 41, obviously a gigantic Star Wars fan, have been to all but two Star Wars celebrations, my fourth daughter is named Eisley, and I’ve been fortunate enough to watch the premiere of Revenge of the Sith with George.

Having said all of that, The Last Jedi left a really bad taste in my mouth. Yes, I’m one of the TLJ haters. I also don’t love R1 that much. I bring that up because I’d like to think I’m a person who loves Star Wars but doesn’t automatically give all of the canon an A+.

So, when I began reading negative reports about Galaxy’s Edge underwhelming people left and right, I began to worry a bit that perhaps Disney messed this whole thing up. Over and over again I heard how it was “unfinished” and “a mess in terms of its delivery.”

So when I walked into Disneyland yesterday, heading straight for Batuu, I was apprehensive and expected to be let down.

But let me tell all of you, Galaxy’s Edge is something to behold. The moment you turn the corner and see the life size X-Wing and other ships I won’t spoil, along with all of the aurebesh on the walls, signs and menus, you can’t help but feel overwhelmed with emotion because it’s the first time we will have seen what’s been on the screen for 42 years, in person.

The land is totally immersive, and there really isn’t anything (other than park goers) that take you out of that element. Seeing the Falcon docked in the bay, life size, is a moment I’ll never forget for the rest of my life. The only thing better than that moment was actually walking into the cockpit and piloting the Falcon itself. So, if the Falcon takes spots 1 and 2, then a very close third would be the experience of building your own lightsaber. Again, that’s all I will say about it because I don’t want to spoil anything for any of you.

Here’s the deal. I think Star Wars fans (and a lot of people, to an extent) have become jaded and nitpicky. But my argument to being nitpicky and jaded about Galaxy’s Edge is that Disneyland added a GIANT AREA DEDICATED TO STAR WARS, so can we please stop complaining?! Sure, maybe the imagineers need to add a few more elements to become the icing on the cake, but Batuu is incredible as it is, right NOW!

Disneyland was very crowded yesterday, but no line in Galaxy’s Edge felt too long. When you’re walking around in what feels like a movie set/another planet, the point is to take it all in and become part of it, not to pick it apart for what Disney didn’t add that in your opinion would make it better.

If you’ve been on the fence about going to Disneyland to see Galaxy’s Edge, I would strongly recommend you go as soon as possible. There is nothing like it. Don’t listen to the naysayers. Star Wars might not be perfect since Disney took it over, but Galaxy’s Edge is a huge achievement.

May the Force Be With You....

As a Trekkie, all this talk about Galaxy's Edge is really making me miss Star Trek: The Experience. I went to that once and was totally blown away.

The spirit of ST:TE lives in in SW:GE. I loved "The Experience" and mourn its passing, but Galaxy's Edge is darn terrific, too.

Io9 actually did an article all about how The Experience did the same thing for Star Trek that Galaxy's Edge is doing Star Wars, 20 years ago. I was pretty shocked to see a site like that actually do a story about it so long after it was shut down.

The Disney Parks Youtube channel has released a ride through video for Rise of the Resistance. It looks like it really is a pretty impressive ride.
I love the little details like the sections of the ceiling lighting up red to look like laser bolts shooting through the ship and then hitting the wall.

Wait, so this is a multi type ride? Were you go though a bunch of stuff walking around, than you get into a cart or something that drives you around the building and than snaps you into an advanced flight sim cockpit for the escape pod bit, or is the entire droid transport bit like a more intense Star Tours with all round projectors?

    EDIT:

Holy crap that looks immersive in the extreme (I found a full version on ).

I rode it in February, just before the close down. It is the greatest ride ever and I'm not using hyperbole. It's worth getting up at 5am to get to Hollywood Studios before opening to get a boarding pass.

Here is my video of riding it. It's the entire ride, starting from the que till the end about a half hour. if you want you can skip to the good stuff.

Well, after two years away, I finally returned to Black Spire Outpost on Batuu (aka Galaxy's Edge) and got a chance to rie the absolutely mind-blowing, utterly next-level "Rise of the Resistance."

And you know what it reminded me of? Star Trek: The Experience. Specifically, the original experience, which was subsequently renamed "Klingon Encounter."

The storytelling and overall approach are actually quite similar. Both experiences incorporate real-world actors playing roles while you are whisked through amazingly life-like sets and eventually brought into vehicles for the "ride" portion of the experience.

Of course, given that it's 20+ years later and it's Disney, the king of theme parks, "ROTR" is about 50 times larger and more impressive technically than ST:TE was at its best moments.

And while I was totally dazzled by the entire ride, I have not yet gone on a ride that has quite topped that first time on "Star Trek." Being "beamed" aboard the Enterprise for the first time was just such an exhilarating, grin-inducing surprise that I don't think any other ride will ever quite be able to match, no matter how technically impressive.

And, of course, Star Trek still has the best "ride story" ever - the reason you've been pulled into this fantastical world is because someone in your party (hopefully "you!") is actually an ancestor of Captain Picard's and his entire existence hinges on your safe return home! (Hell, the 2nd ST:TE ride, "Borg Encounter", literally didn't even TRY to come up with a cool backstory. They didn't even try!)

So, ultimately, go on Rise of the Resistance if at all possible. It's marvelous. If you're really lucky, the bonus will be bringing back memories of the late, lamented "Star Trek: the Experience."
