Apparently HBO Max has no plans to launch in the UK, so i would imagine that Sky Atlantic, which currently has an exclusive contract with HBO, will air it there.

Yes, networks and streaming services are searching for content in this crisis. No, you cannot know that the current situation is the ONLY reason WB is going ahead with this project.

Reshoot is what Whedon did. They changed scenes and parts of the movie. To me "no reshoots" here is "i'm not changing anything i already shot". I think it's possible he will shoot scenes that were scripted and planned but never shot. So technically it's not a reshoot.

The last time i actually watched broadcast TV was earlier this year when i was hospitalized for 3 weeks during a rehabilitation treatment. Since i had Netflix and even before that i can't remember when i actually sat down in front of my TV to watch something and even during the hospital i remember how annoyed i was at the ad blocks and the fixed times of the broadcast.

Streaming and Video on Demand will definitely replace the outdated TV models in a few decades when broadband internet becomes even more widespread than it is even now.

    Nope. As I've written before:

I don't care if Darkseid preceded Thanos in comics history - the whole world knew, starting in summer '12, that the MCU was building to an epic confrontation with Thanos, and the big Justice League plan, as formulated after 2013's MoS, was clearly for a two-part epic: the first featuring an evil reincarnated Superman, building to a Darkseid confrontation in the second part, which would be released Fall 2018 at the earliest, after Marvel's Infinity War (Part One) that same summer. In other words, Snyder's grand plan was to spend two whole movies even after MoS portraying Superman as an unlikable dick/villain, and then top it all off with a rehash of the MCU's latest mega-event finale.

So, yeah, Snyder very much was at fault throughout this process. His whole design was "do what the MCU is doing, but hurriedly, and grimmer."

I just double checked the article, and it says that there will be no shooting at all. Snyder wanted to go back and shoot new footage, but WB said no.

Rather harsh on the brothers. I bet it was Harry. He’s never liked superheroes. :)

I think that's a mistake. I mean I get that it would be expensive and a huge logistical undertaking. But if Synder feels there's a need to reshoot somethings then they should let him. The implication being he doesn't think there are still missing pieces to his vision that can't be salvaged. (Which makes this whole situation even weirder, but I digress.) Because if he has to rely too heavily on Whedon's work, the whole point will be lost.

Because the problem is that Whedon didn't just reshoot. He rewrote. And while I think he's just an average director, I think he's a great writer. The problem is his writing his completely wrong for the tone of this film and its pedigree. You can't just splice in Buffy/Xander Diana/Barry jokes and call it a day. And there are a lot of Diana/Barry jokes. So much so, I don't know if Snyder can work around them.

Because I find any and all of the "X hours of unused footage" claims to be disingenuous. I mean every film has lots and lots of unused footage. How much of it is actually useable in the end?

Plus reshooting with such a high profile cast would take months or even years to organize due to their schedules (not even counting the costs).

Sometimes directors get their legs cut off from the studio when they decide how the movie is cut and it may ruin a movie that could otherwise be better or even good but i have a feeling that JL is such a clusterfuck no amount of additional scenes will save it, there is not much there to work with.

There's a lot of conjecture there--we already know the "evil" Superman thing from the dream vision, but we don't know he is going to be evil for the whole two movies.

My point was don't throw the baby out with the bath water--Snyder's films may not have been to everyone's liking but the seeds for an interesting shared universe were planted--and the studio just abandoned it--dumb move on their part considering they have a fair amount of decent and well liked movies at this point.

    Kryptonite second hand smoke.

    Batman is an idiot.

Threatening Kal's mother is so much more effective.

Although someone killing Lois and/or Martha is probably why we have Darkest Timeline Superman working for Darkseid.

The cheap thing to do is to bring in new actors/characters to pick up dangling subplots and act "around and between" the rest of the old footage, if more shooting was allowed.

    What about animated segments?

Although I am sure that I saw Ray Fisher huddled by a freeway onramp with a card saying: "Will act for food" just two weeks ago.

This is pure speculation on my part, but I've always suspected that if a Snyder cut were released, it would include at least some animated material where live-action footage is unavailable, along the lines of the recent season finale of The Blacklist:

To my knowledge, there's been no word on this possibility either way. If the cut is a hit, but turns out to only be a part one in much the same way Infinity War was, could there be any alternative to a mostly/fully animated part two?

I always assumed he'd be black suit/evil for most of the first part, then restored for the second part.

^^^^ I think that sounds about right. I think I remember something about the Justice United concept for the second movie.

Wasn't this also planned to become like the alternate universe Injustice storyline where Superman goes supervillain after Joker tricks him into killing a pregnant Lois?

It would mesh with the scene of Barry travelling back in time and yelling at Bruce that the key was Lois and there's also Bruce's dream sequence where we see Superman as a villain.

Was this abandoned or is it still a thing that's going to be picked up in future JLA movies?

If there are future live action JL movies, they are going to ignore this one.
