    Glad someone likes it!

Started on the Connie concept today. Just for fun, what I have so far with the others to scale (roughly), including the original. I think this version's proportions are looking really good so far.

It might take a bit longer, even being just a concept model. I'll probably do the Walker class or Shepard class next.

I like that Crossfield you've got there! And the Connie has some nice lines going on as well...

Great starship design work and your Galaxy Refit seems very logical :)

    Thank you sir!
    Glad it works as intended!
    Thanks!

Speaking of, I finally got around to finishing the Connie mockup. Here are some more rough to scale renders:

I'll post more of the Connie in the old Constitution reboot thread here, since I think she still deserves her own thread! I also beefed up the Crossfield nacelles a little, and scaled down the saucer a bit. Barely noticeable, but I thought it was needed when comparing all the ships side by side.

Lastly, to get some ideas flowing, what loose cannon or off screen TOS ship do you like or dislike? Also what ships would you consider canon if you could?

The Baton Rouge is a personal favorite of mine, and, yes, the Kobayashi Maru.

I looked it up and realized I haven't ever seen it before. Interesting, it would make a good challenge for a redesign!

Today's update: started on the sheppard class. Not much to show yet. I'm mainly posting because I can't decide whether to include or leave out the triangle-like shapes on the struts. The straight struts are more TOS, but I think the ship looses a lot of it's character without them. I'm on the fence:

It also got me thinking of using something similar on the Connie. Mocked it up it for giggles, but I'm actually starting to dig it??

Finally got some time to finish the Shepard concept. After working on it some more I decided it looks better with the triangle add-ons. I won't use them on the Connie though.

I'm going to use this concept to inform most of the design language of the era right before TOS, which I guess would be Discovery. The Crossfield is a slight exception, since it's in between. Plus I consider it an experimental design, using new tech prematurely as a test bed.

    You can bet on it!

I started modeling the Saladin. So far I've blocked most of it out and started cutting everything into the saucer. As you can see I'm going to have the command deck function as a lifeboat if needed, something to carry over to all ships I think. I'm also adding two shuttle/cargo bays on the top of the saucer, which weren't on the concept model:

    ^Thanks!^

Made some progress. No I haven't shaded the model smooth yet, I find it easier to work without it. It's fairly high resolution though so it looks pretty smooth anyway:

I started on the command deck/sensor dome, but you can see here my intention for the weapons:
As you can see the launchers will have doors that open up, then the torpedo is released. The panel in the center is like a magazine of torpedoes that can slide out. It goes all the way to the bottom of the saucer. The two panels on the sides of the command deck are the phasers. They also will have doors that open up so the turrets can raise up. It's the same on the bottom obviously. This will be the same placement I'll use on the Connie and most other ships.

So my parents recently found a box with some old doodles of mine, and I decided to work on one idea again. When I was 12 I started trying to design a hero ship, as if I was making a new Star Trek series. It went from Exeter class to Destiny class, but since that's a little cheesy now I'm calling it the Inceptor class.

Just for fun here are some of the old doodles, to show the progression:

I remember I was obsessed with creating the perfect ship lol. I think I finally did a satisfactory job. Here's the new version:

Thanks for showing the old sketches & doodles - there're some intriguing shapes and details going on.
I love the Inceptor's nacelles! However, in the profile view, they look a little on the large side for such a sleek ship - but they look great in the front & rear three quarter views, though. The truncated triangle deflector and impulse engine are nice matching features for front and rear.

As far as details go, I love that slight nudge between the neck- and bridge area and the rest of the saucer. It flows so naturally! I remember I had a phase with that kind of bussard collector as well, loving the style. Less sure about the scale of the whole nacelle versus the rest of the ship though. It gives off a Vengeance vibe which I'm not entirely sure about...

The Interceptor is amazing! Looks like what your Sovereign class would be, compared to your Galaxy class. You know what I mean?
