Some guy who owns a corrective lens store, I think. People are always talking about it.

    Question...

Why is there a hangup with casting people who've already been in Trek? I mean, if this were a British production, it would make sense because there's only 13 actors there apparently, but I think we could find a few fresh faces for SNW.

I have just heard about a new Pike/Cage era series, and just had to get my wish list in.
Bring back the Yeoman - but not as females in short skirts bringing coffee to the captain. Surely as ships admin they should be recording the captains log on away teams, but getting involved in the action too. And, shipboard carrying out personnel matters (great for a Lt. Barclay type mini-arc).
Please no more tecno babble solutions - enough, already.
As Pike's line in "The Cage", the 200 crew is less than half of Kirk's 430. Why? Maybe because fabrication / replication is not yet here. Water and air can be scrubbed and filtered, but food, clothing, tools, equipment need to be stored. More stores, less crew space (including recreation!). Maybe space for less crew than the ship really needs. More tensions and stress, and so more work for the personnel yeomans, as above. And so, maybe, as well as the senior officers stories, there should occasionally be "lower decks" characters stories, exploring these issues.
Then, that the ship is one of those just newly out of the ship yards after being refitted with the new, vastly faster "breaking the time barrier" warp drive. New drives need to work to justify the immense cost of all this and keep the politicians happy. But Starfleet engineers are not quite so confident. And so, engineering hull holds a backup of the old slower drives (just in case). So even less space and more for the overworked crew to do.
And lastly the transporters being newly fitted, and unreliable on any but perfect conditions. And so mistrusted by many of the crew.
All in all a newly refitted prestige ship with a load of problems to drag along with it as it goes exploring.
Yeah, none of this is canon, and none of it will happen - but it's my "wish upon a star (trek)".

I agree they also need to give Pike a yeoman and do the position justice. Especially now. Yeomen are like the essential workers of the navy.

I also want to see more Yeomen. A mix of male and females serving in those roles. Work hard during the day but since they are young they like to party at night and they are constantly hanging out in the Bowling Alley while off duty partying and having a good time.

So far my hopes for new Trek are coming up aces:

    - Continuation of TNG characters: Picard, check.
    - More episodic Trek: SNW and Lower Decks (probably)
    - Toss the Section 31 show out the airlock: looking promising [DS9 is the only one to do them right, and they only managed it for 2.5 episodes.]

Next up: DS9 season 8 and onward (animated or live action) - please, please, please!
And I would still like to see a modern, "movie-quality" take on the Borg (more than just the xB's Picard gave us), something like the quality upgrade between TNG and ST:First Contact. Just imagine the possibilities!

Don't really care about character or actors for SNW. Just hope they figure out how to do villains more like DS9 and less like Discovery season 1 and Picard season 1.

I think a future Seven of Nine show is also in the future. Maybe Raffi now becomes part of that show as well. Fun to also have Rios as well. Are we sure the Section 31 show is off the table? I still think they might do it. Why would they not want to do a show around Michelle Yeoh? She is talented, can kick ass is really sexy and a Mission Impossible type of show would fit in perfectly with Star Trek.

Because the ship is mostly empty inside before the upgrade to 400. Clothing and equipment can be replicated already.

The producers thought the Enterprise would be half the size it was finally decided to be, at the time the script for "The Cage" was written.

With Aron and Rene both gone now and Avery probably unlikely willing to star in another Trek show, a live action series might be a stretch

Animated could happen, but not hearing their voices would still be jarring.

I would, however, very much like to be proven wrong.

It's taking the characters of Pike, Spock, and Number One as they appeared on ST: D - and setting it the the ST: D version of the 23rd century = it's DEFINITELY a spin off. Pike WAS a main character for one full season of ST: D and that's the version of the character this new show is going with (and no I'm not saying theia as a 'bad' thing -0 this old TOS fan thinks it's great).

But yeah, in the end, SNW is definitely a spinoff from ST: D.

I feel like a Seven-centered show would make sense if Patrick Stewart opts not to continue STP past three seasons or so. But if Seven remains a permanent fixture of the cast and Picard keeps trekking for a couple extra years, I’m not sure there would be as much pull for something specifically with her name in it. Her character will have been re-explored plenty by then.

(And this is coming from a huge Seven fan!)

I wouldn’t have dared hope enough to type this even just two years ago, let alone five, but with the way Kurtzman is cranking out projects I do believe there is the possibility for at least some sort of reunion miniseries. Depending on Brooks’ willingness to return, however, it could very well get branded as centering on one or two particular characters, however; at which point we would simply hope that we see a few more familiar faces as well. Because it’s true — not having Odo or Nog is already tragic. Not having Sisko’s heralded return would also be unfortunate.

I could see a STAR TREK: KIRA or STAR TREK: DAX or something. Hell, the latter could plug offhandedly into Discovery’s third season if they wanted to go that route.

And if a Worf series ever happened that could also serve as a catch-up for some DS9 crew as well.

You know I would be happy with a partial DS9 return show. Who wouldn't watch a Garak show or a Quark show which would be Trek's first attempt aimed mostly at comedy. A Bashir/O'Brien show or combine Bashir and Garak for a show. Would love to see Kira again as well but I think people don't like Bajoran stuff as much as I do. I missed that stuff being played down in the later seasons of the show. Worf and Ezri I would like to see a return but not as series regulars. I would be happy with what we get from Worf on Picard unless what they do is so awesome it blows me away.

I would be curious about Quark.

Say, why can't he appear on Picard?

I would love to see Quark on Picard. They really could have used him on the Vegas planet. Makes me wonder if they would do any change to the Ferengi look if they ever used him or used any Ferengi.

Quark could totally appear on Picard (man, that feels weird to type).

They already have elongated heads, so for Disco they would probably give them flat heads. XD

Could also get a nice nod to Nog. Quark can tell Picard to "Tell my no good nephew to use his influence as Captain of the Enterprise to help me deal with some legal issues involving transporting Voles into Vulcan space."
