I noticed that while there was already a Stargirl thread, it wasn’t a spoiler one so I thought I would create a separate one to discuss the season. While it isn’t on until tonight on the CW, it’s already on the DC Universe app.

I really enjoyed it. Certainly feels that more money has been put into it than the other shows. I’m getting a big feeling that Courtney’s father is going to be one of the bad guys.
Curious what we will discover from this new Earth in later episodes; being more faithful to the Earth-2 in the comics. Is their Wells and Jessie Quick still around?

James Robinson, who created the Jack Knight version of Starman is credited as a producer.

He's also part of the writer's room for the series.

I wonder if any concepts from his Starman run will be used? I thought I spotted someone using the Shade's powers in the attack on the JSA.

The people who killed the JSA are the Injustice Society of America (Icicle Sr, Brainwave Sr, The Wizard, Solomon Grundy, Sportsmaster [I think], and Tigress).

Dragon King will also be part of the ISA in the series, but he wasn't seen in the Pilot.

Looked like some large black hands grabbing someone in a shot, might have been Grundy though. The Shade was an ISA member in the comics.

Wait, this show actually kills the JSA, and then the viewers are supposed to believe that the babies can stop the people that killed the JSA?

I knew Geoff Johns was a hack nowadays, but I didn't know he hated the JSA enough at this point to kill them off. Then again, Stargirl has always been his favorite character, and while I liked her in his JSA runs I can totally see him making her some super special character, she'll probably end up avenging the JSA by single handedly defeating all of the villains by herself.

Its like they watched Legends of Tomorrow Season 2, and decided that it hadn't shit on the JSA enough. Hopefully this crap goes the way of Swamp Thing, but knowing WB it will last 10 seasons, with each one finding new ways to ruin the source material.

The only members of the ISA in the series are Icicle Sr, Brainwave Sr, The Wizard, Sportsmaster, Grundy, Tigress, and Dragon King.

Their kids are all likely going to join them, but the ISA's adult membership is set at those 7 characters.

Possibly. I noted one of the people introduced to Barbara at American Dream had the last name "Sharpe". The Gambler's name is Steven Sharpe, so we might see him or his offspring (His namesake or Hazard). The character is the CFO, fitting for a gambler.

I know that Geoff Johns and James Robinson are credited as producers but in reading the description of the series I can't help but wonder if this is drawing more upon elements from Infinity Inc created by Roy and Dann Thomas in the mid 80s.

For example, we have the death of Skyman, which was in the penultimate issue of Infinity Inc.

Pat Dugan was his partner Stripe; although that came from the old Seven Soldiers of Victory comic.

Legacy characters such as Houman, and a female Wildcat and Dr. Mid-Nite.

The Injustice line-up strongly resembles the Infinity line-up and also includes Brainwave Jr, another character introduced in Infinity; although I can't remember if Brainwave Jr becoming a bad guy happened during Roy Thomas's tenure or came latter.

Junior as a bad guy was from the Extreme Justice comics from the 90’s and the JSA books on the 00’s. In the latter I believe Mr. Mind was involved.

Would you guys mind spoiler coding the detailed conversations until the episode airs on The CW tonight?
Actually, can we just make that a rule for this thread please?

Whole topic is already marked for spoilers. Just visit it once you have watched the episode.
You should be watching on DC Universe anyway. The episodes are longer

That was Skyman. Pemberton was never Starman, though he did use some of his tech IIRC.

Yeah, I meant to write 'Star-Spangled Kid' which was his original name before he changed it to 'Skyman'.

Wow this felt more like a movie then a TV show. Very cinematic. Part 1 was also cut very awkwardly for TV

Due to a DVR mishap, I missed the first half of tonight's ep. Anybody know if the CW is planning to rerun it later this week?

(And, no, I don't have the streaming service, so that's not an option.)

Looks like a re-airing this Sunday night at 8pm, @Greg Cox. I'm not certain, but it may also be up on CW.com for free, if that's an option for you.
