I don't know if this has already been stated explicitly somewhere, but I assume that the smattering of Voyager novels thrown in every month is tied to the show's 25th anniversary this year...?

Is it wrong to be a bit disappointed with those ebook offers? I'm really only interested in TOS and movie era books and there's a distinct lack of those in the three months of offers on show. I'm not complaining as such, just a little sad that I won't be buying much. They're a real highlight for me and I feel it's been somewhat slim pickings, since the offers came back, for me.

Three months of offers, and only three books that interest me and they're all in August. Though I already own "Dead Endless" and "The Last Best Hope".

Hey, look on the bright side - that's pretty much all that's being published nowadays, so your interests are being catered to in the way that actually matters! What's better: $5 off an old story or getting brand-new stories once a month?

And there's nothing wrong with being disappointed in what's being offered. But I'm certain there will be plenty of TOS on sale during the fall!

@DeepSpaceYorks I understand. Correct me if I'm wrong but arent you located in the UK? The UK deals have been different than the US offers sometimes SUPERIOR to what we get. After all we are looking at 800 plus? ebooks to choose from over 40 years. I dont envy whomever is making the choices for the monthly deals at the publisher. Its a tough choice to make to please a wide audience.

Some months are good and some not so great. But I feel at .99 cents what do you have to lose to try a old book to read that maybe new to you or others?

Lately for me i purchased the entire seasons of every Trek show on VOD and have been discovering how incredible DS9 is for the first time, and Voyager too. I know I'm late to the game. So between that the newer novels, I have been reading and discovering Trek more. Ben Sisko is an amazing character for me now as is all Trek characters, so now I want to read more Deep Space Nine novels. Or pick up a new Trek ebook by an author I have never read before.

I think that's the point of these sales, to rediscover some old ebooks as new and try something different that you may not have read before. A good reading gamble is better at .99 cents than $15 any day.

But I understand you may have a taste or preference for a character or era or series more than others.

Im glad S&S are doing this, and I wish Random House Del Rey would do this with Star Wars too, give all older ebooks a chance to be rediscovered again, instead of putting on sale the same ebooks over and over.

Besides, charging $12 or $15 for a badly reviewed old book is kind nutty to me, its like an uphill battle.

At least S&S gives us some theme or some new and old ebooks to choose in a good way.
    Hope that helps,

@historypeats its an ancient secret. LOL. No just good timing I guess. I just keep my eyes peeled and get lucky sometimes. Thank you for the good word.

To everyone on the thread, I just wanted to make a suggestion if I could.

I have each of the three Trek Destiny ebooks by @David Mack separately. But I intend too get the Destiny omnibus too. I thought I read under the Destiny thread here on the forums that @David Mack said that there were some changes made to the omnibus edition that is different from the individual books. But I dont know specifically what the changes were made. Hopefully, Mr. Mack can tell us. I asked before in the thread and never got a response.

I re-edited all three novels so that they would flow together more easily when compiled in a single volume; along the way I cleaned up some of the sentences and paragraphs. Most of the changes were minor, but intended to make for a more pleasurable reading experience. No major changes were made to the story, though somewhere in those 300,000+ words, I did rewrite one whole paragraph, altering a detail that adds color to one scene. But I've never told anyone what paragraph it is, or why I changed it. ;)

@Koric no, you're absolutely right in all you say. I'm just having a selfish moan! I am in the uk but since that little break at the beginning of the year the sale titles have harmonised so we get what you get now. Perhaps it would be better to see it as an opportunity to try something new rather than complain. We are incredibly lucky to get these offers every month and I certainly am grateful to be able to pick up interesting reads for a great price.
I've also thought for a while that it would be an excellent idea for Star Wars to do the same thing.
Hope there's something for you in the upcoming sales, I think I'm going to pick up Destiny.

There are some great deals ahead. For me, the best one is Federation. If I had to pick a book that represented the heart of what Star Trek and its aspirations, this would be my choice.

@David Mack thanks so very much for the clarification. I think its great you explained the differences so we could understand and why. I intend to get the omnibus too. I'm a completist. What a great story in Destiny and a great trilogy honestly.

I read Destiny back in 2009 and I feel that its revelations and impact hold up just as great then and even now. I dont understand the recent reviews on Amazon slighting it over time now. The outcomes in Destiny to me could still apply and dovetail into Picard or future stories nicely.

I think that's a great credit to you Mr. Mack what a challenge and well done. :)

@DeepSpaceYorks I'm glad to help and offer a different perspective my friend. :) After all we all need a good moan and groan now and then. I'm guilty of that too. With all that is going on in the world today these are trying and troubling times. But that's what makes both old and new Trek lit so important to give us some escape and comfort in all that is going on.

I hoped I helped and I'm glad to help.

To let you know @DeepSpaceYorks about Star Wars last night :

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker novelization by Rae Carson is now on sale at $3.99 down from $14.99 on Amazon.

    Also:
The Autobiography of Mr. Spock by David A. Goodman is on sale on Amazon for $6.08 down from $13.99 but has been delayed several times and is scheduled to be released on 9/7/2021.
Just to keep it on topic and a heads up,

Also to @DeepSpaceYorks and everyone on the forums. Please stay safe and healthy and best wishes to all.

I think they should have just gone for it and released it as originally planned, without worrying too much about Star Trek Discovery. Now there's Strange New Worlds coming out, too. And I like Discovery, for the most part, and feel excited about SNW. But I can go back and watch TOS episodes and to me Spock in those stories doesn't really have a sister named Burnham, even as I'll happily re-visit Discovery eventually and enjoy that version of Spock who does have a sister named Burnham. I would have been perfectly fine with The Autobiography of Spock without needing to accomodate Discovery. No need to keep kicking that can down the road. It's not as if there is any need to justify the Picard autobiography as not being up-to-date with the Picard series.

Thank you for the heads-up about the Star Wars novelization, BTW.

Del Rey does occasionally mark down some of the Star Wars books, just not as cheap or as often as Pocket does the Star Treks.

@JD yeah but a ton of repeat discounts on the same Star Wars novels for months my man. Time to take a chance on some new different ones. Like legacy of the force series or something. Its getting old. At least with Trek sales good or bad, right or wrong its a grouping or a new theme every month though.

FYI: Dead Endless ($0.99) and The Last Best Hope ($1.99) have been discounted at Amazon. No price movement on any of the others yet.

EDIT: As of 10:41am Pacific, the other four - DS9's The Siege, The Big Game, and The Heart of the Warrior, plus VOY's Incident at Arbuk, are now on sale for $0.99! Thanks to Koric for the initial heads-up - Amazon's search function can be a hot mess, and it would've taken a long time to sift through all the chaff when sorting by price.

That's a huge deal on the Discovery and Picard novels, as those are both fairly new. Again, I love seeing the other four discounted, I've been wanting to see older books discounted, and the next 3 months all have some of the older books (I consider stuff before the Litverse startup older) in multiple series discounted.

I'm glad we know what's coming down the pike; I received an Amazon gift card and snagged Titan's The Red King and Orion's Hounds at full price in anticipation of Taking Wing going on sale in August, as well as @KRAD's A Singular Destiny for @David Mack's omnibus in July. (I also picked up A Stitch in Time, Rising Son, and Unity, because I couldn't hold out any longer. :D)

I got Dead Endless and Last Best Hope this morning. I'm still a bit in shock that they actually put books that new on sale already.
