Well, I guess it's good that he waited until Wesley was 21 years old.

    That's known as "grooming."

Captain Sisko is literally a rapist and a murderer.

Okay, I get the "murderer" complaint because of what he does to that Maquis planet's atmosphere while he's hunting down Eddington but where does the "rapist" come from? :wtf:

I'm guessing sex with Mirror Jadzia while pretending to be his mirror self? Definitely very, very dubious. I wonder if there are any real-life "wrong twin" kind of legal precedents?

    source? reference? anything? :guffaw:

Didn't she want it? I remember she initiated/expected it and he hesitated.

At the time, she thought he was Mirror Sisko, and aside from momentary hesitation he did nothing to dissuade her of that. Not sure if "rape" is the correct term, but he definitely took sexual advantage of her. Which I guess is rape.

Could be two uretha on one penis head?

Which explains how it took a few minutes to get from Earth to Vulcan
Is sexual deception a crime in the mirror universe? probably not

Well, there isn't really any kind of actual law in the Mirror Universe, it's basically complete anarchy over there. Mirror Jadzia did punch Prime Sisko when she learned of the deception, though.

Having sex with someone under false pretenses is rape.

But I'm sure there is one for twins IRL, which is essentially the same thing. This was the top google hit.

Wikipedia calls it Rape By Deception.

I just watched the scenes again. She seduces him, he tries to resist, she pushes on. The dilemma is that he had to keep his cover. When they meet again, she's furious and threatens him with a dagger is he ever touches her again. Then I watched how Kirk dealt with Marlena back then, and he simply didn't go along with her. It shows again that Kirk was 'better' than Sisko, or that DS9 was much darker Trek.

I get why that conclusion could be drawn, but those TOS and DS9 episodes were produced 30 years apart.

TV standards and practices and censors and such are VASTLY different in those eras.

    I don't think that's a fair comparison.

And regarding Kirk and Sisko being compared as darker than one another, remember that Kirk had his fair share of blood on his hands.

Giving flintlocks and essentially continuing a shooting war between the Hill People and Villagers, for instance.

I mean it's also true that the 90s weren't as aware and educated about those matters as we are today, so the writers most likely didn't know the implications of what Sisko did from a modern perspective.

    An excellent point.

The problem with watching shows older than 5-10 years ago is exactly this. People tend to critique and expect certain things from a current mindset and worldview. It's very difficult for a lot of people to take themselves out of their current era and watch a show from decades ago keeping the production time in mind.

It invites unfair comparisons and plot, pacing, and story expectations that hinder the enjoyment of a show.

I'm not saying people should forget their opinions and viewpoints, but I think people should be a bit more open-minded before critiqueing an episode, character, or series from shows produced so long ago.

    Man: I'm rich.
    Golddigger: I love you.
    (later after sex)
    Man: I have a confession. I'm poor.
    Golddigger: Rapist!

    Ah, no.

    Yikes...

Okay we're going to shut down this part of the conversation right now. You can debate what constitutes sexual assault in Miscellaneous or TNZ.
