I'm not sure why but I feel like I'm watching a Star Trek/Babylon 5 crossover.

That is an odd looking ship.. I love odd looking ships.. tell us more about this odd and interesting ship.
I love the thick nacellle pylons and the angled nacelles, and the bits of equipment, really nice. :mallory::techman:

Dunno, maybe you have B5 on the brain (in yer deep subconscious lad)...No worries your in good company, as STRenegade thought one of the ships in my Klingon battle-group pic looked like a Narn vessel.

Nothing really to tell. Just a different type of TMP ship. Wanted something without a secondary hull, that was not a Miranda/Constellation-Class. Something with more substance than a Ptolemy Tug, but with a similar simplicity with a Saucer, Pylons, and Nacelles, so I oped thinker, longer pylons and added a scaffolding inter-pylon for either a torpedo system or sensor suite. The thing was to make the pylons robust enough to really ally travel through them.

You took John Masefield literally. Excellent. :techman: If I may ask, what software are you using here?

Somehow this one reminds me of an old battleship the British built in WW-1, HMS Ramillies, in WW-2 she was quite old and obsolete but at one stage she was part of a convoi and just by being there she prevented two German battlecruisers to engage the convoi, she was fitted with the infamous 15" gun and she could have caused a lot of damage.
So in my head cannon one of these ships is called USS Ramillies. ;) Registry probably 1917 (commision date of HMS Ramillies)

I think Atolm uses pencils and magic.. ;)

Looks a bit grungier from what I'd expect from a TMP ship, but I'll take anything TMP :) Nice update to the Disco Tug.

    Thanks. Just Paint.net as software.

    Kewl :)

    Thanks!
I dunno, the Soyuz and the Constellation are pretty 80's style grunge (and lets not go into the numerous DS9 kitbashes)...lol As for Disco Tug, which was that? I have not seen Disco proper so my normally encyclopedic knowledge of Trek designs has a lot to be desired...

Frankly, I never liked how TNG grunged up the beautiful TMP look from ships out of that era... feeling it's a bit of a travesty, honestly. The shining sleekness of the period's Federation vessels is one of the reasons I love that period as much as I do. Still, I can't deny it gives your ship character.

Federation Tugs are these guys. Two of them assisted the damaged Enterprise at the beginning of DIscovery, then they finally appeared in the foreground during one the Picard short trek I think.

Yeah I can see your point on the TNG-ified TMP Ships. I'm with you as well. TMP era is a very hard Era to design for because there is a huge dichotomy between sleek and heavily detailed in areas.

Oh I can see the see from the perspective it looks like that ship, but goddamn from the other views...
On a side note what happened to TOS starfleet under Disco? Not one ship looks the Era.... ARGH

Disco is pre TOS, so there's a slight change in the fleet. Enterprise herself doesn't fit her appearance in the cage, but its close enough IMO.

I would not say that the ships are a slight change. Seems to me that there is something else going on that the ships are so different...I am not saying that the work is crap, because it's not. And the vessels as designs are pretty to me, but the era they are supposed to be representative of is not meshing up. Even if you take into account the NX styling it's not there...So maybe something from the producers or the licensing agreements.

Isn't the aesthetic of TOS pre-DISCO? The only ship we see from the TOS era is the Enterprise, which is half a century old by the time of TOS. The Ships from DISCO seem to represent the road to the Motion Picture's aesthetic (which would have likely debuted during the time of TOS), what with the variety of unrefined nacelle types seen on the ships.

By that you're pointing at Enterprise's launch date of 2245 (Stated in DISC: Brother). She's 20 when Kirk's in the chair in '65. It's up to you whether you want to accept the Cage or Discovery appearance as "canonical", because Cage happens before Disco in the timeline (and then reverts to Kirk's enterprise... unless there's that short-trek, ughf).

By the time my brain short-circuits like this, I take a step back and just accept the Discovery star fleet as emblematic of the immediate Pre-TOS period of the 2250s. Shenzhou is "old" by 2249, so I'd guess most of the fleet in that time is in their prime. Enterprise is cutting edge, and her appearance would herald the 2260s fleet (Emphasized by so many TOS enterprise kitbashes- from the FJ ships to the Medusan starship).

We've had dramatic style shifts before, between the 2260s TOS fleet to the next decade ushering in the TMP fleet. I just figured the 2260s fleet was cutting edge by the 2250s, and then got replaced by the 2270s.
