I had a couple messages regarding this. 'Starfleet Academy' isn't cancelled. There is just no way to film it in 2021. The producers and writers behind the show are working on 'Gossip Girl' until mid 2021.
All of that is the opposite of what I’m getting. But your track record speaks for itself. Just sit on things until you can independently confirm things. Lots of projects in development never make it OUT of development.
I've confirmed 'Starfleet Academy' is delayed. They may announce it is in development, but it is impossible for Fake Empire to produce the series as part of the 2021 production cycle. 'Revolution' has now moved forward. It is a Wrath of Khan prequel.
The guy from Twitter with all the scoops, Vullein, gave this as a reason for the Starfleet Acdemy delay: https://twitter.com/Vullein/status/1221144442935087106?s=19
That sucks because I'm REALLY looking forward to that one. Is that concept art for the show, I wonder?
There seems to be an Apple deal, but it wouldn't prevent a CBS-produced series like Gossip Girl or Starfleet Academy. Starfleet Academy is not happening because of COVID-19 delaying things.
They are casting Kirk, McCoy, Uhura, Scotty, Chekov and Sulu. Remember, a broken clock (WGTC in this case) is right twice a day. But I personally believe they are casting them early for imminent motion capture work on the Nickelodeon series.
A prequel miniseries to TWOK doesn’t sound interesting to me. Nor does a Starfleet Academy show. But I’m 100% cool with being proven wrong here — and even if they end up not being for me, it’s not the end of the world. I’ve already got Picard and Discovery (and Strange New Worlds).
Section 31 had been put on hold before COVID-19 even started for "reasons"......... I had been told in January that Pike and Disco 4, and Picard 2 would all film before Section 31. Pike has been a done deal for 6-8 months. Logistics with one actor had been keeping it from being official. Now obviously that is resolved.
I was hoping for a different time period, as I feel that era (Discovery, TOS, TAS, Pike, the Kelvin films) has been done to death. Don't get me wrong...I'll still happily watch it
They can bring in young Commander Kirk as an occasional stand-in executive officer for Acting Captain Una, so that Mount doesn't have to spend his whole life on an Ottawa soundstage.
