letting my hair dry I never use one of these hot air blower thingies. First of all, it's a waste of energy when hair dries all by itself anyway and secondly, my hair tends to turn greasy at the roots and extremely brittle at the tips when I blow-dry it. As I have rather long hair (almost down to my waist) it takes a few hours to dry but I think it's worth the effort.
Neither do I. As you can see, you won't need it in a desert anyway. And it's not necessary for survival....
