the 1966 version can stay where it belongs, in a museum going forward the disco version should the default NCC-1701

If they do a show, they will almost definitely re-build all their assets, sets, and very likely also their CGI kodels. It might get straight pylons. Though overall everything is definitely going to stay within the "DISCO"-look.

But just from a production/money/marketing perspective, a new show set on the original Enterprise will trump season 3 or 4 of an ongoing-show. It's more important to have new and shiny sets/ships/uniforms/faces there, than to stay 100% truthful to a glorified cameo on another show a few years ago (DIS).

With Anson Mount, etc all coming back as their Discovery versions, it's fair to say that the style will stay the Disco look.

I would hope they stick with their original plan of slowly easing the Enterprise to look more like it's TOS version, but anyone hoping for a carbon copy of the TOS version will be disappointed. The Disco look is here to stay.

I will say I think they did a bang up job with the Enterprise bridge and corridors

Keep in mind the term "more like" is very vague. Just changing the pylons and extending the neck slightly would change the proportions enough to make the DiscoPrise a perfectly plausible visual reboot of the TOS E.

Agreed. I said the same thing a the end of last season. The only 2 things that were somewhat out of place.

Still, if that's the ship we see, then so be it.

I've been saying for a while that if the interior looked like the DSC Enterprise and the exterior the TOS Enterprise it'd be a great compromise. Everyone more or less wins.

I really don't have a problem with the Discoprise at all.

The improved textures and detail of the external model were all long overdue.

The angle of the nacelle pylons didn't offend me either.

It looked great and was clearly recognisable as the updated Constitution Class which is all I was really looking for.

Make no mistake...the only thing about the Discoprise I dislike is the weird depression on the saucer for the lights..the angled pylons more so annoyed me but I didn't think they looked bad.

What it does do, if this does indeed stay the Enterprise, is reduces the impact of the refit as the TOS-E to the Refit was a monumental change, where the Discoprise to the refit would still be very significant, as the proportions would change, but visually it would look more like an evolution than a generational leap.

Still no appeal for the Discoprise, whether I get use to it or not.

I don't either. It takes nothing away from other stories, is completely recognizable as the Enterprise, and serves the purpose in the story.

I don't need to ask for any more.

I was actually half-expecting them to go that direction with the Discoprise in dry dock at the end of the episode. Just start making the transition from Discoprise to Enterprise.

Don’t go full Cage/TOS. But maybe remove the gigantic impulse thing from the back of the saucer. Or change the nacelles to look more like the ones on the Enterprise.

Just small steps to get us where we should be.

Maybe it'll happen in the proposed Pike series.

But I won't hold my breath with these producers.

agreed, not holding my breath. We will be stuck with the Discoprise (a design I don’t mind) until we are completely done with this era in the Kurtzman-verse.

:shrug:I love the Discoprise. Wish it had been the design for the Kelvinverse movies.

Now THAT would have been brilliant. She looks so much better - especially on the inside - than the Kelvin Timeline Enterprise.

    Nooooo....!
I'm not the biggest fan of the JJ Abrams movies. But Ryan Church's redesigned Enterprise is amazing!
