Should there be a series nobody on the Trek BBS asked for?

It’s hard to believe nobody here thought of PIC as an obvious show after seeing Logan, or even independently as one involving Picard and at least some TNG characters. As for Section 31 and the Mirror Universe: perhaps, but there’ve been comics covering the latter at length, whereas a Section 31 show is still an expansion upon Section 31 episodes and movies like STID. As noted, I’m sure nobody asked for Discovery as a framework, but it does contain many, many elements people might easily want to see (such as Pike’s command). That’s why I’m more interested in ideas that are distinct at their core, like a lot of these expressed so far.

The Adventures of James T. Kirk: Space sick Midshipman, Ensign, Lieutenant on the USS Farragut, his first command, Klingon Wars. Think Horatio Hornblower book series in space but with the Klingons instead of the French. Yes, we know he can't die, but we kind of knew that during TOS, too.

    Not me.

I liked it better on the second viewing.

The jury's still out on that one.

A Mirror universe series would be the end of Star Trek, with no hyperbole or exaggeration.

At the time Logan was released, Patrick Stewart and many of the TNG cast were all quoted as saying they were done with Star Trek, and indeed at the time it had been fifteen years since Nemesis bombed, making any sort of revival or reunion seem like a pipe dream. Plus we were still six months away from Disco's premiere and the behind the scenes drama there was already well known and raising questions regarding that show's future. There was no reason to expect any other Star Trek at the time, let lone one bringing back anyone from TNG. Even when rumours of a TNG revival began circulating in early 2018, Picard was one of the last ones many of us were expecting to see come back.

    Star Trek FNP

Follow the adventures of the Federation Naval Patrol an organization dedicated to the security and exploration of the oceans of alien worlds. Except this show is set on Earth, so we get to see the FNP rescue a Klingon from drowning, and then have to defend themselves as he attacks them with his bat'leth for not allowing him an honourable death. Watch them conduct search and rescue after a bunch of Tellarite spring breakers who have gone missing after a night of wild partying on the seas. Become enthralled as they take on an Andorian terrorist intent on using his ice powers to freeze the entire Pacific Ocean for reasons.

Cast includes suave good looking captain, gruff XO suffering PTSD from an experience in the Dominion War where the FNP were present at an ocean battle on another planet where the Dominion ended up slaughtering the native species of mermaids, and a dolphin who the universal translator renders his voice with an African accent, and every sentence he speaks is laced with too much profanity.

Have any of the post TOS shows been asked for? Was anyone clamoring for a show set 100 years after TOS or a show set on a space station?

A Star Trek series about the third world war or its aftermath and Zefram Cochrane's construction of the first warp engine. It wouldn't be Star Trek in any recognisable shape or form, wouldn't feature space exploration or aliens, have boring season long arcs & badly written & acted unlikable characters.

I could watch this. Maybe the whole first season shows the troubles of Cochrane and his team (supporting cast) just to build the ship. Politics. Romance. Cultural differences. Betrayal. Etc... Second and other seasons show good and bad consequences of the first flight, and efforts to build a better ship. Again, bad guys will try and stop them. More Politics. Romance. Cultural differences. Betrayal. Etc...

When I originally read Bryan Fuller was involved in spearheading a prequel series to TOS and is was titled: Star Trek: Discovery; all I could think of what someone as talented as him could do in a series that honored Gene Roddenberry's vision of "The Cage" as seen from that pilot. I still had the thought of what was done "In a Mirror, Darkly part II" while imagining what the expansion of this world could look like with modern sFx? My anticipation was growing as I rewatched the original series and loving TOS all over again waiting for what DISCO might be... until... that SD Comic Con where Fuller announced the series and presented what Discovery looked like. What was pure fright for me of what the ship appeared as I was out. That design didn't remotely honored Matt Jefferies work and it didn't honor the Star Trek I loved.

It honors Jefferies and Star Trek.

Part of the novelty of a mirror universe series would seeing an episode or two devoted to the prime universe, as an inverse as to what is usually done. The other part is having the darker elements and presentation of Star Trek (like what was attempted in DSC S1) in a more appropriate setting.

I think a mirror universe show would only work if it was set within the proximity of ENT, about 15-20 after the series/IAMD ended. Anything set between TOS and DS9 will deal with the fall of the Terran Empire due to Spock’s reforms. A post-DS9 series would look at the Terran Rebellion after the capture of Regent Worf. And while there’s no reason to believe the Romulan supernova happened in the mirror universe, there’s also no reason to believe that the Romulan supernova didn’t happen and actually did threaten the galaxy in the mirror universe and wiped out the Alpha and Beta Quadrants at least, and have various exit points in the Gamma and Delta quadrants. I also think a Pike series will cover the mirror counterparts of Pike, Una, Sarek, Amanda Grayson and maybe Sybok, so there’s no reason to have a series set then either. It could be set during the early 23rd century, but I don’t see the appeal since there are many periods in Trek history that aren’t covered, and don’t really need to be. Some eras are more exciting than others.

If set within the ENT timeframe, the major characters i.e. Archer, T’Pol, Trip, Reed, and Phlox would probably be no longer be alive, due to how IAMD ended. The minor characters triumphed, and it would make sense for a series to continue with the focus on minor ENT/Trek characters.

    Terran Empire

Empress Sato, Mayweather, Erika Hernandez, J.G. Robinson, Dr. Lucas, Samuels, Paxton, Gannet, Ruby, Arik Soong, MACOs (Hayes, Cole, etc), ECS Horizon crew

    Mirror Vulcans

T’Pau, Syrran, V’Las, Kuvak, Koss, Skon

    Mirror Andorians/Aenar

Shran, Talas, Lissan, Jhamel, Gareb, Talla

    Mirror Tellarites

    Gral and Naarg

    Mirror Romulans

    Valdore

    Mirror Suliban Cabal

    Silik and Sarin

    Mirror Klingons

    Klaang

    Mirror Orions

    Harrad-Sar, Navaar, D’Nesh and Maras

    Other Mirror characters

    Rajiin, Xindi Avians

Its intriguing for a season. But looking at the above, it seems like it would be basically GoT in space or mirror universe Earth.

The positive for CBS is that they would get to use the Constitution class Enterprise set and models again, and have another rated R Star Trek series.

Not asking for the series btw, since a lot of the suggested cast from ENT are older now. Just pointing out how it might work best.:)
