Oh, then I'm probably missing something, didn't remember he ended up on the Enterprise (again?).

Such a waste to kill him off like that. It wasn't necessary at all.

Some deaths can serve the story, narrative-wise.

I'm just assuming that they would have played an off-camera role in helping to get him set up in Federation society. He knew people.

Followed up by another cool scene, lens flare and desaturation notwithstanding as the overall presentation and acting are first rate
(the Borg ship interior really looks scary and legitimately).

Thank you. Just like gays, straights have a choice of camp or non-camp and I leave it at individual acting/entertainment style, not because of who they want to roll around with behind closed doors under mutual, informed consent.

And from what all I've seen and perhaps I've missed out on a key scene everyone's buzzed toward, D'Arco is playing Hugh fairly well. That's all that matters.

I am hoping that there are some Hugh flashbacks especially as it seems that Seven of Nine must have given Hugh that little device that Elnor found.

Maybe we get a flashback of him and Geordi?

And I think that Hugh’s death might be the start of an xB rebellion against the Romulans.

Agree, that was a pretty weak finally for the character, very little impact, wish they'd done more.

After his initial lacklustre re-introduction in episode three, I really did love the reunion between Hugh and Picard in episode six and wish we'd seen more of the two together on screen. I was also hoping for a bit more gratitude from Picard after Hugh risked everything for him at the end of the episode. They didn't so much as handshake!

I echo everyone who feels disappointed by the abrupt decision to kill Hugh off, but I'm waiting to see how it's followed up in subsequent episodes.

Lore in season 1 TNG clearly had displayed some vicious tendencies. Especially for 1987. De-aging CGI, et al, what they could do in PIC - given the lack of limitations and censorship - could work, especially as Spiner's pretty dang good... If we all know Wile E Coyote is going to fall over the cliff at 50MPH well in advance but still laugh at it, Lore could still show up and we'd be properly worried.

I'm mostly 90% sure that actors aren't going to date any of us so it honestly probably doesn't matter to any of us if they're gay, bi, straight, into sheep, plastic toys, or anything else one can imagine for whatever reason. Of course, that doesn't explain tabloid articles crowing on about their personal lives and I'm pretty sure they want personal lives just like everyone else... ?

If I were a minor Trek actor and they asked me to appear in this show, my first reaction would be, "Oh, great. You're going to kill me off, aren't you?" First Icheb, then Maddox (okay, different actor, but same character) and now Hugh. Minor characters from the past are the new redshirts. Although I'm sure there are probably more than a few fans who would love to bring Wesley Crusher back just to meet his end.

I expected that Del Arco's performance would touch my heartstrings but I didn't expect how deep an effect could be. The ending of episode 6 was so promising! I waited for a more bright continuation. Alright, I knew the rumors that they return Hugh only to end his story. Alright, it was clear they'd rather to kill him than let him live long and prosper. But... DAMN NOT LIKE THAT! Not being murdered in the next ten minutes after he finally found a friend who won't abandon him.
They said, actor brought a lot of emotional details himself... hug with Picard, sobbing during the XBs execution, sure something else... and he wasn't even warned which scene would be last... Scriptwriters want "to show" something, "to improve the story", um, they did. Hugh's death crushed me for several days. Do I want more? Sorry, my credit of trust is critically low. IMO, the best thing they could do with Hugh, is return him as is and give a development without crazy twists. If they don't know, how to handle characters, they could leave it to actors who are really investing much in their roles.

I'd rather they didn't bring Hugh back to life. I don't want this show to turn into Discovery where every dead character comes back to life in some way.

Reviving dead characters is a very Star Trek feature. Killing characters "to improve development" of other characters, is not.

I thought Del Arco was great in his return and I'm sorry they killed him off. There was definitely more they could have done with him.
