If you grew up with Lwaxana Troi hovering over you and pestering you about Betazoid traditions would you want to follow most of them? ;)

My understanding is that, though Starfleet makes an effort to have married couples placed on the same assignment, it's not always possible. So it might be that Troi and Riker weren't always serving on the Titan together, either by assignment or by request.

Bar like happened with Picard, Riker got another command after the Titan was either destroyed or decommissioned.

Technically Narissa rounded up the XBs first and executed them unnecessarily. Hugh was the only one rebelling initially, and that was by helping Picard and Soji escape. It was only after the execution of the XBs that Hugh was provoked to rebel more openly.

Like being harassed by the Tal Shiar is any better.

Late to the party (as always) but is there an explanation for Thad being their firstborn as opposed to Tasha in the books? I thought they were trying to stay consistent?

Riker should just set up laser pointers all around his house. That will keep any attack kzinti occupied for hours. However i wonder if when Riker said they were having trouble with Kzinti wit was because they kept sitting on his coffee table and passive aggressively knocking stuff off it.

There's only one book that's consistent with the show, and that's only because there was extensive coordination (and, no, to those among you waiting to pounce, I am not saying that book is canon. It's just very consistent.) The old litverse novels have their own continuity and ZERO connection to PIC.

Ha! We should probably stop now before the mods ban us for being rude to the honourable Kzinti race.

Which book would that be? I'm a little behind on my Trek reading.

Also, I thought Dayton Ward's new position adds consultant was primarily to try and keep the meta consistent between the existing books and the new TV series.

On a separate note, the mind meld (didn't know Romulans could do those, and yes I'm convinced that the admiral is a Romulan spy) clearly shows the same future that Michael Burnham glimpsed in Discovery. Are we then to believe that nothing Discovery did in the past or future prevented that from coming about? After all, a linear 132 years has passed since Leland/Control was stopped, and over a decade since Uraei/Control was stopped by Bashir (I'm led ro believe but haven't read the book yet). Obviously the two shows are linked in storyline, but how exactly?

And will the books retcon stuff to stay consistent?

And believe me, I wish I could make parts of Federation(1994) canon today. I would be so happy and it would make 21st century Earth history even cooler and more interesting.
