I think Hugh has become a victim of just how short the season is episode wise, if this was a 20+ episode season I doubt he would have been gone so soon. A 10 episode season means there is very little spare space in each episode for guest stars apart from those that they intend to keep around like Seven. It is probably best if everyone stops wishing for their favourite characters to appear as it will probably get them killed off. However if there are any characters from previous Star Trek shows that you don't like then they are fair game.
Great episode. Now, if only someone could come up with a way to listen to electronic communications or even jam them. I'd make sure my classified and restricted base of dangerous as hell super zombies were covered by tech like that. Speaking of tech: Jurati: Computer, whip me up a deadly potion. Computer: Cool 'poof!' Computer: He's dying! Jurati: Feck off! Computer: OK. Computers just love going along with killing folks in the Trek universe. You'd think someone would wonder about the programmers making a design feature like that. They sure as hell don't like stopping when they're on a killing binge.
C’mon writers...PLEASE pay off on Riker’s Spoiler: TEASE of being in active reserve and what it’s take for him to return .
So far the following have come and gone in a blink and you will miss them style. Icheb - He couldn't live without his implant, Seven made sure of it. Hugh - Rissa finally got around to it this week, who will she kill next week. Looks to me like its Death Pool time on Start Trek. I will start. Plank of Wood and his bloody spirit animal, assuming Seven hasn't already put him down due to excessive boredom.
Helloooo Chakotay, Wesley,... Me: Well, at least they're not going to kill off Seven, she's a fan favorite Spock: I would like a word.
It's nice how they referenced Picards heart - is that why he was pretty unharmed by Ligos Mintakan arrow? He only needed an armsling, for some reason XD
Yeah, but they had time for 10 times the very same Narek/ Soji scene and other redundant stuff... More importantly, there are other ways to get rid of a character. Have him lost in space in a pd or sth, so later shows will be able to use him if they want to. No, they clearly choose what he have been told for 7 seasons of GoT was good tv... Oooh, all the prophets, please! Boom!
Hopefully Narek and especially Soji will be important moving forward, how much participation they will have in S2 remains to be seen though, assuming Narek survives that is. Hugh's death does improve Seven's chances of survival.
I wish they'd ditch Narek, Jurati, Raffi (ok, I'm willing to wait for her a bit longer... so not Raffi yet), moustache twirling Rizzo, and Elnor (whom I initially found endearing, but is just getting on my nerves now.. got it, good ninja samurai. Now shut up and go play somewhere else). See, now we got room for other characters, new or old! Btw., how did Seven's Fenris ranger contact card end up for Elnor to find on the cube?! Wtf?
"When I was in my early twenties on a trip back to Rinax, I saw a Leeola root being farmed. It was truly amazing. Within minutes, the root was dug up—dug up and being prepared. A few more minutes, and it was diced. And before I knew it it was ready to be added to a Jibalian omelette, frying away on the griddle. Humans aren't like that, Rizzo. They may come from the same planet, but they're pretty much helpless when they're born. It takes them months before they're able to crawl—almost a full year before they can walk. Their deep space missions aren't much different. Picard's going to stumble, make mistakes — I'm sure more than a few before he finds his footing. But he's going to learn from those mistakes. That's what being human is all about. I'm sorry you can't see that."
I'm happy for you, but sadly, it's not that much fun for me. I think the episode with 3 murders in it somewhat made me less tolerant for that kind of stuff.
soooooo...you want to get rid of the new characters just to save the legacy characters? it's this kind of conservatism in media consumption that I will never understand.
