There was already another Icheb. In the episode where the ship was split into different time frames.

I haven't seen it yet but do you suppose this is being written today to show the relevance of today? Personally I am exhausted of this. I miss diplomatic drama but maybe that just doesn't work. I am going to start watching Picard soon so my run on thoughts might not be of anything soon.

As a longtime VOY fan, it was rough and a bit wtf . But...it worked in-story for Seven.

It was horrible and I didn't like it. That said, it did wonders for Seven as a character. Rewatching Voyager is going to be a little sad now. Poor Itchy.

Retrospectively, the timelines where Troi died and Seven died both seem like they turned out better than the ones where they lived...

Honestly, this is what I feared would happen. A typical case of itchy-fingered producers who just have to destroy and kill off beloved characters from previous (and better) series.

Not to mention that it had to be in a scene with sadistic and bestialic torture, so typical for this sh***y, sick decade. (Oh sorry, it's a new decade now but obviously the same doom-and-gloom crap we had to stand in the previous decade).

I never cared that much about Icheb as a character but I find this treatment of him downright disgusting and insulting.

So what will be next? Janeway being gang-raped and tortrured before killed off? Tuvok being slowly cut to pieces in a blood-soaked slow-motion scene? Beverly Crusher being burned alive in another slow-motion scene? Paris getting his head cut off by a "Klingon" Ninja Turtle?

Come on producers! Who's next? Can we make bets on which StarTrek character who will be destroyed next?

It was worse than David Mack killing of characters in novels. At least their deaths meant something to me and came with personal sacrifices. Icheb's torture was what is called 'Effekthascherei' in German (cheap sensationalism).

I can deal with sacrificing a character, but the way they did it, bringing him back just to immediately kill him off was not something that I would have done.

Star Trek has always been about character development, not quick, cheap, shock value gimmicks.

Icheb never really did anything for me as a character, but to end him like that was pretty dirty.

If they had to kill him off, at least give us more than 2 minutes of him being tortured and then mercy killed.

I finally got my wife to watch Picard with me (she is not a Trek fan at all, prefers reality TV. lol). And this was the first thing she saw. Oops.

Not a fan of how it played out, personally. My best hope is that this Trek down a darker path leads to something really good at the end.

Didn't watch it, don't care. Alex Kurtzmann can take a hike through galactic cluster 3 without an EV suit.

    Icheb is alive and well.

He wasn't my favourite character but it didn't need to be done that way. You can kill a person, their death can serve the story and impact and motivate other characters but that was unnecessary.

I stopped watching The Walking Dead because of how Glenn and Abraham were killed. Now, well, as I said to my wife... We have TOS, TNG, DS9, VOY and ENT. That's plenty fine for me.

Well in "All Good Things" we had the Romulan Star Empire still collapse (in a presumably similar way) and the Klingon Empire is now at war with the Federation (with the heavily up gunned Ent-D a sign of a more aggressive, less evasive Starfleet).

I agree that on some levels, there's a suggestion in "All Good Things" that the future outside of Picard's narrow frame of reference may have turned to shit just like it has in ST:Picard. Maybe in the very same ways.

I guess some small consolation in all of this is that Icheb isn't truly "gone." His thoughts and experiences from the time of his assimilation to his freedom remain within the Collective. Weird to be thankful to the Borg for something!

I don't have the streaming service, so the only episode I have seen is the first one which was free on Youtube temporarily, but I have seen the spoilers and know about Icheb. This is indicitive of how Trek is going now IMO.

In Star Trek 2009, you have Romulus and Vulcan destroyed. And still Romulus is destroyed in Picard. I have recently read the Destiny trilogy of books and some of the other post Endgame books, and it just seems like nothing but constant war and misery, whole worlds destroyed.

Exactly why I feel that I've reached the final station when it comes to Star Trek. :(

Death comes for us all. As Roddenberry told Piller people don't mourn in the future.

    Until they do...
