I went on one of these at a friends for the first time at the weekend, and it blew me away that much I went out and purchased one with the VR Worlds package the very next day. I had no idea that the technology on these things were at this level, I was expecting a clunky, first generation type experience. The general immersion, graphics and sound quality make for an amazing experience that surpasses anything I've ever seen, and instantly makes my 'normal' PS4 titles seem like a playing a board game.

I can't wait to play more games on it, so I'm looking for anyones recommendations, tips and general chat about the system.

I wish I could play VR games but everytime I've tried I felt dizzy and had to stop. (Don't think I'm the only one with this problem tho.) So... if they manage to come up with a solution for people like me that doesn't involve months of suffering through dizziness and nausea to "get used to it", I'll be in. Because I agree, VR games look great. :)

That's a shame it makes you feel like that, I must admit I've had vertigo on some games, and the experience is generally too intense for me to play for hours on end, but I've not experienced any adverse effects so far, other than dreaming about it when I go to bed!

Yeah, it's a thing. I really hope someone will come up with a good solution sooner or later. I mean I like VR, I wouldn't want for ALL my games to be VR, I'm too much of an old gen gamer for that, but SOME I'd like.

The only thing VR wise i have ever found not uncofortable, but more annoying was when that tunnel vision comfort setting kicks in everytime you move, i have to disable that in every VR game or i can't play the games, but apart from that i can throw myself about in VR with no issues.....but a bummer for those that have issues as VR is a game changer in everything.

Oh and some games you need to grab i assume you will be using the PSVR...
    SkyrimVR,
    Borderlands 2 VR,
    Wipeout omega,
    Pinball FX2 VR,
    Star Trek Brdige Crew,
    Until dawn Rush of blood,
    RE7.

That is a few i own off the top of my head.

the tech is there, this time around, it's really impressive

personally I can't really get into it because with a small child, being 100 % immersed in anything is just not a thing I want to do, ever - I need to retain at least some level of peripheral awareness

I fancy Wipeout, I've always enjoyed them so I'd imagine it will be great in VR, and I'd like to give RE7 a bash - I'm normally good with horror games, but I was so shocked at how unnerving the Heist part of the VR worlds package was when it's not even designed to be that scary I'm thinking RE7 will be a fucking ordeal.

I feel your pain, my child is 4 now and is quite happy to watch me playing it on the TV.

^^^RE7 does not use the jump scares mechanics thankfully, which i also hate, a cheap mechanic that in my veiw ruins most so called horror games, but RE7 goes the pure atmosphere route, and it does it very very well, so its a very enjoyable game that you don't need to worry about every door being a screaming jump scare, a horror game done well, and in vr the horror atmosphere is off the scale.

Not PSVR, but I've tried out my Brother's new Valve Index over the Holidays, and one of my favourite things was Batman: Arkham VR. It's short, but it's one of the better experiences in terms of putting you right in there. I was a little apprehensive at first over the whole experience, but I only ever experienced mild vertigo when playing Apollo 11 VR when viewing the rocket from outside and seeing it swing by the camera with a feel in camera altitude.

Far point is a good FPS for it. Firewall as well if you want online. Bridge Crew is fun if you have friends who have the game as well. Resident Evil 7 if you want a horror experience
Beat saber is probably my favourite game for it. It’s a rythm game that can give you a workout if you play enough levels.

That's sounds great. I'm a massive fan of the dead space series of games which had an absolutely amazing atmosphere for their time so it's definitely on the shortlist.

Beat sabre is also on my radar. Can you play it with the regular dualshock or do you need those move controllers?

You will need move controllers since you need to move your arms in the direction it gives.

I really want to try VR, but I've never done it before, so I'm hoping to try it out before I even consider buying a PS4 VR set. I don't want to spend all the money to buy it, only to find out that I can't handle it.

It's absolutely incredible, way better than I thought it was going to be - this is what sealed the deal for me, it will be compatible with the PS5. It's not perfect - the resolution takes a hit so sometimes the graphics looks almost like it's got heat haze almost, but the immersion is just off the scale compared to traditional games. I highly recommend you try it out somewhere.

Definitely try it out first, yes. I'm really glad I did - I'd have been REALLY upset if I had bought the whole VR equipment only to then find out that it makes me dizzy.

I think I saw something about a Star Trek VR game at Dave & Busters, so that could be could a good way to try it out. I just need to get a ride down to the nearest one.

Yeah, the first time I played on PSVR, I didn't expect it to be quite that good. I did the underwater "experience" thing on one of the demo's and actually leaned over looking at one of the control panels in the cage and reached out to point at it, hitting the arm of my chair. LOL!

It's my preferred method of play now. Oh, I can still play non-VR games, but it's just not the same as "being there". The most impressive thing about VR, for me, isn't that you can look around you, that's cool. It's that everything is in it's proper scale. Skyrim is cool when you're walking on some path and walk under an archway or see a frost spider....it's another thing to walk under an archway and see a frost spider in VR because they are at the size they would actually be in real life. Living in Skyrim would be pretty horrifying, but you don't really get the full effect in non-VR.

Likewise, flying around the Enterprise D in the Bridge Crew menu is just awesome. For me, I pretty much play the original Enterprise exclusively, and switching to exterior cam, the Enterprise is fucking huge! And you can steer it in exterior cam!

Resident Evil....games don't often make me apprehensive to play them (only Alien for PS4), but I had to really work up the nerve to play Biohazard. Hell, at this point I've already played through about four or five times, got used to everything, and started a new game on "Madhouse" after not having played for a year and I'm apprehensive again. LOL!

All of the "must have" triple A games have been listed...recently I've been playing No Man's Sky again with the VR update, and it is, despite it being a little extra blurrier than the usual VR games, one of the most immersive ever. I think it's because the landscape of the planet I'm currently on is truer to life than say, the mountains and terrain of Skyrim. I've been to places like where I'm at in NMS. I don't often get dizzy in VR anymore, but barrel rolling my ship in an atmosphere gets me a bit.

I downloaded some free demo content last night of the PS Store, and found some great stuff. There's a game...I think it's a game...called Alumette which is almost like watching an old Rudolph cartoon, except you're in the environment and can lean in and around the characters as the story moves. The design and look of this game is delightful and brilliant and I may have to pick it up. Played the demo for Eve Valkyrie...and holy shit! Graphically superior to No Man's Sky, and being dropped in the middle of fleet of huge, industrial looking ships was just....amazing! Don't think it's anything more than combat, but damn it looks fantastic! Even more immersive than the Star Wars VR level with Battlefront, and that was amazing.

Really glad to hear the helmet will be compatible with PS5 because I wasn't thrilled with having to buy it all over again......because I would buy it all over again. VR is just a whole other level of game play.

I bought resident evil 7 for the VR at the weekend. I've had two, one hour stints on it and I'm not sure if I can carry on to be honest. This game is absolutely terrifying! And I'm not even a wuss when it comes to horror films or games, but this has had me absolutely jumping out of my skin.

You're not alone in this - I sent Alien: Isolation back because, as much as I loved it, I couldn't play it due to my anxiety. And I had a VERY tough time with the Resident Evil 2 remake because of that guy who stomps around and chases you. EEEEEEEEEEEEEK. I don't even want to imagine playing a VR version of those games. Or RE 7. OMG.

Hmm. I'm suddenly glad I can't play VR games.

I'm really annoyed that the ILMxLAB Star Wars games haven't been released for VR, they sound really cool.
Has that Doctor Who VR game come out yet?
