I think we should just bring back Sisko. Get fans to see the benefits of recasting by taking the situation where the original actor can't be bothered and turn it to fan's advantage. Siskos a prophet and can shape change anyway.
because guest actor of the week and lead actor for seven seasons is similar in every regard also: it's THE Sisko. show some respect!
All will be forgiven if they bring in high level caliber like Denzel Washington or Sam Jackson. All the anti-recasting Trekkies will be saying, "Avery who?"
Sam Jackson would fit with the darker, edgier, Trek anyway. recast Sisko: I'm **** tired of these **** changelings on this **** starship!!!!
I want Edward Norton to play me. That way I get to keep the same name but I'll look slightly more haggard but in a good and attractive way.
At this point I wouldn't be surprised if fans complained they got Scott Bakula to play evil Archer aka Future Guy and insisted they bring back James Horan.
It's ok it can all be fixed, with the Ready Room inviting Brophy to fight it out with the producers who recast him, culminating in a duel between Brophy and Ales on who is the "true" Maddox. If no one was watching the Ready Room before, everyone will be watching now. The Ready Room's view numbers would shoot past Picard's even, making it the first aftershow that brings in more viewers than the show itself.
