Seems to me like it's a matter of having approached the subject from the wrong angle. It's a matter of Maddox + Jurati = too white to be Dahj/Soji's bioparents without putting some other factor in the mix.

I think the point is moot anyway, as there's nothing yet to indicate that Jurati was a biological contributor that doesn't require a bit of a reach. I liked the surrogate mom angle, but then somebody reminded us that Jurati hadn't even seen the kids.

And just like mom, kills dad?

Jurati being the mother of the twins would just be soap opera stuff.

It came across almost as you were accusing people being racist if they though that it was unlikely that they casted a mixed ethnicity person as a biological child of two caucasian people.

To hear my dad tell it... or Medea. Oh, she killed the kids. Jurati would still be on track, I guess.

An overdone trope but it wouldn't be the first stale plot device in Star Trek.

Jurati and Maddox were absolutely lovers. That was the intent of the cookie shot. So what?

I mean, there are two possibilities here if your hypothesis is correct. One is that she gave her DNA with consent. But if that happened, the dialogue where Maddox asks if she has seen Dahj made no sense at all. The other is that Maddox is a creep and used her DNA without her consent - in which case she would be in the dark regardless.

Jurati does not seem desperate to find Soji like a mom at all. She was clearly dreading seeing Maddox again because she felt she had to kill him. What mother would be eager to meet and murder her daughter? Particularly as Jurati does not appear to be a psychopath.

I think that there will be a "mom" angle there, but more figuratively...like Victor Frankenstein was a "dad".

Freecloud's supposed to be in the Alpha Doradus system. So, after checking the Whitten Starmap website, I'd say the same "sector stack" as Iconia, Dinasia, Iccobar and Tyrellia.

Mildly surprised to see Freecloud added that quickly. We haven't seen that kind of updating from Jed Whitten's operation in years.

Yeah a few are jumping the gun a bit here, we don't actually know the exact nature of Soji and Dahj or what steps were taken in their creation, were they grown inside a surrogate or did they use a maturation chamber.

For all we know they could be clones who were then modified and altered, if they are androids they must therefore have a synthetic brain at the very least, the question then is where and how was a suitable body obtained/created and we don't have any information on that.

Far too soon for members to be losing their shit over as big a grey area as this.

I doubt that Dahj and Soji have a biological "mother" to begin with so the racial background of the actress playing their "mother" in a holographic message is probably moot or at the very least probably shouldn't be analyzed too closely.

We don't even know if they're truly biological; they could be synthetically created, but to closely mimic humans even internally.

Well i have to in all honesty say that I really enjoyed that episode. It was amazing to see Seven Of Nine go all commando like that. Holy moly.
My guess is that Dr. Jarati is either a sleeper agent for section 31, or part of the federation romulan conspiracy against the synthetic lifeforms but we'll see what happens.

We don't know whose DNA was used if anyone's.

Picard could have children after all, the technology is all there, everyone is assuming Maddox is the father which is possible but he may have sought out a better DNA donor or his may not be suitable.

We already know Picard was Borg for a time, perhaps that makes a difference.

I took it to mean that Jurati had key input into making the new androids, perhaps she came up with the idea of fractal neuronic cloning in the first place?

    Wow!!!

I’m surprised to see the episode so highly rated.

I thought it was definitely the weakest episode so far.
