I teach primitive worlds about the human concept of love. Don't judge me.

You're not Starfleet Command or the Federation Council.

Are you showing them what a member of Federation looks like?

Try to defend this very objectively.

Within 1 minute of analysis it destroys any hope for Picard to be considered genuine Star Trek.

It's genuine Star Trek. The show says so in the title.

i've said this before, but i happened to watch this last night, so i'll repeat myself: the fact that they can't be bothered to get simple details about the show right more or less invalidates their ability to critique it. i love red letter media, but shrieking "it's not star trek" over and over again is really a bad look for supposed fans.

Vashti is in an unclaimed area of space, I imagine a lot of smaller Federation colonies may have planetary shields.

Earth very likely has an unfathomable amount of traffic, both spaceships and transporting to facilities or ships in orbit. So having a planetary shield may have been too much. They still 100% have planetary defenses though and may have a planetary shield, I think as much was mentioned in DS9 during the attempted coup and, if I recall, Star Trek 09 has Nero torturing Pike specifically to get to Earth without disturbing the defense systems.

I mean the Breen attacked Earth, but didn't do THAT much damage considering it was supposed to be a fleet of Breen ships and none of them escaped. We've seen what ships can do to a planetary surface, let alone a fleet of them.So clearly Earth has some beefy defenses.

Why not just say what you think? I really don't give two fucks what someone on YouTube thinks.

It takes less than 30 seconds to think about this yourself.

Raffi isn't living in poverty. She basically gets a nice, big "trailer" in an isolated location where she can do what the fuck she wants. She isn't starving, she isn't poor. What she is, is an addict who fell back into addiction and never got away from it again. The help for her is there on Earth, but she doesn't want it. And the Federation isn't gonna kidnap her and force her into a rehab facility.

If Mike and Rich had thought for about 10 seconds, they'd have started to question the premise of the thought - if Picard has a chateau, spanning many acres, producing wine. Does that mean everyone has one? Or can have one? Very unlikely they can or want to.

So that indicates two things - there is some vague class system or Raffi wasn't interested in doing the work required to build a giant vineyard up from scratch. There is also the option that Picard's chateau is a site of historical importance. Either way, the vineyard was firmly established in TNG and not Picard, so does that mean TNG isn't real Trek now?

"OMG ONE DETAIL IS WRONG SO THAT MAKES THE REST CRITICISM WRONG TOO". Laughable argument. How can you even pretend to accept that the federation are now racist and bigots in majority?

Ludicrous argument. Why do you care what I think if you don't care what they think since you don't know me either. It seems you are incapable to answer to their criticism at that point and you evaded the question.

she's poor, just not in the way we think about it today.

picard has generations of tradition and wealth (antique furniture) behind him to fall back on, raffi clearly doesn't have the same kind of history. her life was probably built entirely around her starfleet career and when picard left and messed it up for her in the process, she had nowhere else to go in life but her hovel and her snake leaf.

anyway that was my read and rich says as much in this terrible video: it's a merit based society, not a monetary one.

I didn't watch it. Because I actually like to exercise my reading skills while I'm here. Which is why I am actually keen to see what you think, in your words.

woah ok. my point was that they're either purposefully getting details wrong to be funny or they're not paying enough attention. but they can't miss half the small stuff and bitch about the other small stuff.

anyway, i don't think there's any evidence the federation is bigoted in picard. there's clearly some major issues with the direction its going, but that's nothing new in the world of star trek (see: DS9's "homefront" and "paradise lost").

HAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHA. the show's still called Star Trek and is therefore Star Trek.

Like it or not. I wish I could erase VOY from canon but it is Star Trek.

It has been nearly 30 years since Roddenberry died, nothing since then is "Star Trek"?
