Funny, I hadn’t realized I was using a fan made map. Somehow I thought it was official.

Oh well. I was still able to pull the approximate positions of the majority of Star Trek stars into a database. Better to work from imperfect data and fix the errors than not.

My ultimate goal is to use these positions on my Stellar Cartographer blog, so hopefully eagle-eyed people like yourself can catch those inaccuracies .

Debates like that are inherent in our nature. At least people care enough to disagree on star names.

I’m still ruffled that the IAU went with Rigil Kentaurus instead of the far more widely accepted Alpha Centauri. But I’m sure I’ll keep calling it what I know, the same way I’ll keep insisting there are nine planets .
