Naaah... She didn't have time to get to know my history.

Though I did meet somebody else that weekend who was a semi-famous TV personality that got to know A LOT about me.

I'm glad Naris and Zhebrev survived the attack of the Romulan spies and outsmarted the villians. The stuff with Soji and the former Romulan borg drone Ramba talking about synthoids with one would was a healer and another destroyer was odd how did she know that. An how did Soji know all that stuff about the borg ship assimilating the romulans.

Funny you should mention watching the shows and films alongside each other without issue, given one of the main complaints about the TNG films is how differently Picard is depicted from the shows - from his desire for vengeance at the cost of his crew in First Contact to hooning around on an alien world while Worf blasts the natives in Nemesis,

I don't think so, it was indicated that she somehow knew the information about the ship and she stated that must have been in a file she read somewhere, the look on Nareks face indicated that was impossible.

A part of Soji knows why she is there and is feeding the other part of her what she needs when she needs it.

It is clear that she still does not realise what she is.

The only way she could know about that ship is:

    1. She was on it when it was attacked by the Borg.
    2. She has memories or a connection to someone who was.

My money is on 2 at this point, the look on Hugh's face spoke volumes, it was all news to him just as it was to Narek who looked like he was about to have a baby.

What was that ship doing out there and why did it just happen to be attacked by the Borg when no other Romulan ships had been at that point, probably due to the Collective not having assimilated anyone with the knowledge of how the Romulan cloak works.

I think in the First Contact it works really well, because there Picard losing his cool due the past trauma is is an important part of the story. Not so much in the other films.

Seven of Nine ... I could see that.

    Picard, not so much.

    Reminds me of Bleach:

    (1) Boy meets Girl.
    (2) Girl is kidnapped by Demon.
    (3) Boy spends forty episodes training to FIGHT the Demon. (Enough, already! Get on with it! )

It is what, about 30 in world years since the events of All Good Things, the last TNG episode? Let us not forget the Picard that was depicted in TNG who, as a young man about 30 years younger than the Picard of Encounter at Farpoint, devoted a significant amount of his time in the pursuit of banging cougars.

Not an inconsistency! He dated women of that age on TNG too, it's just that he then was twenty years of their senior!

And yet, his behavior in Tapestry tells us 50+ Picard was embarrassed by his younger self's predilection, immediately dumped the cougar and proceeded to bang his 20 year old Academy pal. That kind of flies in the face of him only ever being interested in 40 something women.

After watching the last three episodes I felt much the same way you did in that the writers were trying to paint modern day politics and social issues onto the UFP, but I’d been giving this some thought for the last few days and I’ve come to the conclusion that most people in the Federation, or at least on Earth, probably have the same idealism that our heroes did on TNG. We’re only seeing a small sample of the overall whole. And unfortunately that small sample consists of people haunted by their past. They’re all damaged goods.

Conversely, when we’re first introduced to Dahj, we see her happy and excited about her acceptance to the Daystom Institute. Her sister Soji also seems like she wants to do good in life and make a difference. We have Dr. Jurati who also seemed like a genuinely good, honest and happy person.

Admiral Clancy didn’t seem like a bad person, at least not to me anyway. Sure, she ripped into Picard like a first year cadet, but his was a big ask. He was claiming a secret group of Romulans spies were operating on Earth and to top it off, a new type of synth was waltzing around advanced way beyond known technologies, without proof, mind you, and he wanted Starfleet to sanction a mission to find the now dead super advanced synth’s sister. All of this after he publicly threw SF leadership under the bus, just a few days earlier.

The only bad people so far, at least as far as UFP citizens, are Commodore Oh and Rizzo (I don’t recall the rest of her name or her rank).

I guess until I see evidence to the contrary, I don’t think society in the 24th century hasn’t changed all that much from 30 years ago.

Honestly, however, while the social issues presented in Picard are topical, they aren't exactly new. Jews on a ship trying to escape from Nazi Germany were turned away from the US during WWII, Japanese Americans were put in internment camps during the war, Chinese faced a head tax and Irish immigrants to the US were vilified during the 19th century. The Federation has behaved this way in its past as well. It's a very cyclical situation that rears its head in times of societal stress where the first fingers are pointed at the other, apparently even in the Federation's version of Utopia.

I think Hugh has been working with the Romulans for decades and they filled that scout ship with “bait” Romulans to lure the Borg to assimilate it either to infect it like future janeway did, a variation of the huge virus, and in the process unknowingly sent a synth that messed up the Borg Queen to the point they needed a new Queen. I think “The destroyer” is the new Borg Queen but she does not realize it, but has access to the previous queens knowledge
