Why did Rios say “things are getting hot up here!” hurrying Picard? We did not see any attacking ships or any ship near the La Serena.
Also, Picard left without even saying goodbye to his Romulan friends. Just beamed up. Very rude.

Everything doesn't HAVE to be shown to you.........I am sure he said goodbyes AND scratched Number 1's belly before he left. I also can imagine there was a patrol craft or something approaching, I did not read it as panic........just a let's GTFO of here.

Maybe when he said things were getting hot he just meant he fancies Raffi.

He said "... my sources (Raffi) tell me it's about to get very hot, Jean-Luc ..."

So obviously, either Star Fleet or the Romulans are about to interfere with their departure.

Or he was lying to get them to hurry it along.

IIRC his ship is unregistered and he was in Earth's orbit. That alone is really risky considering Earth is the place, where not only SFHQ but also the main UFP facilities are

I didn't take it to mean ships ready to attack, but more along the lines of there being signals that something is about to happen. I.e. that someone was eavesdropping on some comms channel and heard the start of something.

The gorgeous addict was impatient and in a hurry, but didn't want to be the one to say something?

An unregistered vessel in Earth orbit most likely using covert means to confuse Starfleet sensors can't stay that way forever. Starfleet may be in the business of shooting first and asking questions later nowadays.

He never says this - people are misunderstanding the scene.

    Picard: Your early
Rios: Nope. My sources tell me...
    Picard: What sources?
Rios: It's about to get very hot chez vous [at your house].
    Picard: It's already hot.
    Rios: Hotter.

There is no suggestion that there are attacking ships at all.

Can't Picard just call his friends from a communicator or even viewscreen to say goodbye?

Ever noticed how in movies and tv shows no one ever says good bye when they hang up a phone. This is the sci fi equivalent

    Ahhhh...
That's what I get for taking Spanish instead of French in high school.

I thought he said "Jean-Luc". :alienblush:

Why does everyone assume Picard didn't say goodbye? Laris and Zhaban were standing right there when Picard said it was time to go. Then the camera cuts away to La Sirena so we can see him and Agnes beaming aboard. There's a gap there for goodbyes to be said. And he was already pretty much ready to go, had his bag already on him when the attack happened. Most of the farewells would have already been done, that final goodbye really wouldn't have taken long.

I took it as him warning Picard about people making a house call, or about to get much worse.. and for hurry the F up.. not about his ship in trouble.

Yeah, I think it's more about chateaux picard. I suspect Laris, Zhaban and No. 1 to be killed whilst he's away...

As Stewart said on the Graham Norton show, "nothing happens to the dog!".

Rios never said anything like "things are getting hot up here."
What he did say was, "My sources tell me it's about to get very hot chez vous."
He was referring to Picard's location, down on Earth at the chateu.

Do you know how much an "Orbiting Earth With An Un-Registered Ship" ticket can COST in the 24th century? ;)

I would wager in the region of 50,000,000 quatloos, or about 7000 internets.
