The Guild Awards often predict the Oscars (the same people vote for both awards).

Phoenix is really dominating this awards season, even if he doesn't ultimately win the biggest of them all. He will though.

He's getting more relaxed after each award win.

Finally saw the movie over the weekend. He did a great job. How surprising to find out there was more to the performance than "losing weight and laughing" ;)

The laughing itself was just unbelievable acting. It's so hard to actually laugh (or even pretend) while maintaining complete sadness and pain in your eyes. That is what he achieved. Just incredible. Give the man every award! (As they have been doing)

Eh, not really. His performance wasn't any different from John Travolta in "The Fanatic".

No, they were both going for the "Mentally handicapped" character type. Except maybe Travolta's was more on the nose for an autistic person instead of something as easy as "Laughing a lot" and John didn't lose weight.

Not really, just poking fun at so called "brilliant" acting. Then again, Leonardo DiCaprio got one for wrestling with a CGI Bear.

    That all you got?

Of course he is; a DC movie is celebrated in a way no MCU film ever will be, so its driving him to fits of rage.

The thing is, the MCU is not even really interested in being a vehicle for this level of acting, so I don't know why he's so upset. It's like complaining that MCU is not winning any independent spirit awards or something.

Nah, Joker isn't a DC movie if you want to be honest. Phoenix and Philips made that clear.

And it's merely riding on Black Panther's coattails.

I'm NOT upset, but Phoenix's acting is hardly something memorable once you get passed the stuff like how he lost weight and laughs at random while claiming it's due to a mental condition.

It's not different from how Travolta acted in "The Fanatic" only he was more genuine as to how a mentally handicapped person would REALLY act.
