FC uniforms looked hot and uncomfortable. Give me the practicality of turtlenecks (TOS) and Jumpsuits (ENT) anyday.

Of all the 24th century Trek, I find the Voyager uniforms the best. I think the bright splash of colour on the shoulders works. The FC unis look too dark, too heavy (and somehow have a waistcoat underneath. What temperature do they keep their starships?) and the TNG ones baggy and ugly.

So I'm cool with them going back to that uniform and making some Countdown-inspired improvements.

That outfit is from Star Trek Online.
In the game, only females can wear skirts, but skants and kilts are unisex.

Sticking to STO, I’m looking forward to see the three new uniform types - Lower Decks, Admiral Picard/new Countdown era, and PIC era - in game. (The LD one can be approximated sigh existing outfits already). Really hoping to see the Admiral Picard era the most - the shoulder stripes with the separating line and the overall black color make it a nice next step to DS9/VOY and FC unis. Only the sleeves look kinda weird.

Do you think Starfleet will keep lumping operations and we security into the same division color (gold in the 24th century) or give them their own colors someday?

Why can’t somebody design a practical admirals uniform?
That preview one from Picard is hideous.Laughably bad.

I like the new uniforms, they keep growing on me and I think they look somewhat better than the "AGT"-uniform for comparison but I like the fact that the new combadge has a lot of similarities to that "AGT"-combadge.

The uniform does heavily resemble the characteristics of the original "DS9"ers yet with a new modern twist which I really like. The ones from "FC" are also well designed and fabricated but to me they remind me to much on the times of war, especially the Dominion and so forth.
    Now they are colorful again.

To conclude my opinion on these fabrics: I like the fact they came back to the more colorful uniforms while staying true to the starfleet lineage. There is always sth to complain about. So seeing familiar designs returning I'm happy about the looks and I hope that there will be another live action show set in the late 24th/early 25th century aboard a fine starfleet ship.

    Make it so!

I wouldn't mind seeing them mix up the division colours again. Perhaps blue for command, red for operations/engineering and gold for medical and sciences.

No! Though switching back to TOS pattern would be acceptable, as would including security to the red with command (I think it is that way in STO?)

    Sorta.

From what I can tell "Command" (red division), includes Tactical (CONN, Bridge WEPS, and uses the TOS "Command Star"); and Security (Armory Officer, Assault Squad Officer, Security Officer, and uses a new compass/target insignia).

Yes! Blue was the command colour in the 29th century and it looked fine.

Purple in the Relativity version. With burgundy for ops and grey for sciences.
Before the timeline split we have the USS Kelvin with blue/command, grey/science, gold/ops, white/medical.

Admiral Ross' grey and black was probably the most practical-looking Admiral's uniform we saw in Trek.

Although that uniform is remarkably similar to the one worn by Admiral Nakamura in Season 2 of TNG. The resemblance is pretty startling. Picard's Admiral's uniform is not out of line with anything we saw in TNG and not by a longshot.

I think it's a great design and nod to both TNG and DS9. The new costumes since the 2009 reboot have all been quite good.

I have yet to see one uniform design in PIC I don't like. So far they're honoring continuity while following on from it, making the new duty uniform its own.

would be awesome to have a side by side comparison pic or two between the Picard uniforms and TNG/DS9/VOY for those that have access to those photos.

not a fan of Picards admiral uniform (from the Countdown comic), but I like the Startfleet one from the NFL teaser, which seems to be an evolution of DS9/VOY.

I definitely prefer these JJ Abrams' inspired costumes on well fitted performers.
