Some of the early effects were only 480p, IIRC.

Remember what I said the other day about those four ships being able to tide me over for a while? Turns out I was wrong.

I headed over to my other local comic/collectible store today. I don't check out this one so much because it involves a bit of walking (whereas the other one, I can just hop right on or off the bus) and he doesn't usually get in new ones, but the price on the other ones he has are pretty nice. ($20 CAD or less).

I ended up getting the Class-J ship from "Mudd's Women". It's probably the most "TOS"-looking ship there is, with the lack of texture, the sharp angles on the strups, and twin deflector dishes that have a very 20th century satellite dish look to them.

I didn't realize until I read the magazine that there was actually some significant differences between the version here and the Aurora from "The Way to Eden". The Aurora, being a passenger ship, has several windows in the front and along the sides (whereas Mudd's ship had none), and has longer nacelles. I think, given the choice, I probably would've preferred the model in the Aurora form, but it's not a big deal.

I'm quite happy to get a model so cheap after spending so much on others. I think I'll be heading back there soon.

memory-alpha's catalogue of eaglemoss ships is my go to for that info. they have the orbital weapon platform coming out after john eaves' D4, which is due this month, so we're probably looking at another month or two before that one comes out.

I finally did it and cancelled my subscriptions! I know I said I'd do this awhile ago but I just couldn't get myself to actually do it!!

For those who want to save 20% off on their own subscription call them up saying you want to cancel. They start by asking why (I said the web-store was easier to buy from). First they will offer to make shipments every 10 weeks instead of four (I said that was already happening because I haven't been getting regular shipments anyway!). Next they offer to put your subscription on hold. The 3rd and final offer to try and keep you as a subscriber is to offer 20% off on all future shipments (that almost made me change my mind).

In the end it is just easier and less frustrating to order directly from the web-store regardless of the offered discount. Plus the regular subscription is coming to an end so not that much in savings. However, for those of you with the Discovery and XL lines it might be worth it.

XL Excelsior just arrived today. I do love the paint job on it but I’m quite disappointed that they kept the Greg Jein narrow secondary hull that plagued the smaller version. The thing that made it worse, is that apparently somewhere along the way, they corrected the model for the magazine renderings, as it looks exactly like it did in TSFS-TUC! Why oh why did they not correct the model before going to master? Oh well, not great but not horrible either. Moving on...

I got a bunch of ships over the holiday(s) and a replacement for the broken (Tholian) ship. All I had to do was send Eaglemoss an e-mail and a picture. I got the Enterprise-E (normal), mirror NX-01, Prometheus, Thunderchild, Valdore, the Discoprise (normal), and for non-trek I got the Battlestar Pegasus.

Out of the bunch I was very impressed with the NX-01 easily one of their best models, I also really like the Prometheus and hope they make a separating version. I love the hull details on the Valdore. I can recommend all the models I just listed not a dud in the bunch imo.

An XL Enterprise-J is set for release in March!

Also on my wish list is Bonaventure, Horizon, and Antares. XL versions would be welcome, too.

A Galileo shuttlecraft is curiously absent from offerings. Or did I miss that?

Which Antares - the TOS freighter, the TNG cargo ship or the Miranda variant?

There have been far too many ships named “Antares” in Trek.

I do kind of wish we could get the non-remastered ships, like the original Tholian web spinner (and the Aurora for that matter), but I don’t expect that will ever happen.

The D7 and Romulan BoP were not remastered.

Personally, I’d prefer to have the BoP and the Tholian Spinner both ways. For the Aurora, I’d prefer the TOS-R version.

    Spoiler for PIC trailer:
At least one TOS ship is in PIC as a new CGI model, so I hope we get that.

I personally want the original dildo Eymorg ship.

Warner Bros can kiss my ass. It’s like they’re totally averse to making money off B5 even though there’s a fan base that would buy the stuff.

I suppose you could always hit the Captain Proton ship with a heat gun and stretch it out a bit. :D

Ed Giddings' model gets the shape of the secondary hull right but other things wrong - I feel it alters the silhouette of the ship even more than the other CG model.

I'm more annoyed by the additional mistakes Eaglemoss made - the nacelles for example look nothing like either the movie miniature OR the Flashback miniature OR the DS9 CGI version.

ben also said the picard collection is (at least) a year away, which makes sense but is still slightly disappointing.

The Enterprise era Tholian ship, I like the clear colored parts they used for the warp engines. I've been most impressed with the Enterprise era ships including the Romulan Bird of Prey (Ent) and the Starfleet Warp Delta. I heard Eaglemoss used cgi assets from the show as a reference.
