Not really, to me. Not when viewed in light of starship lineage from the NX-01, to the USS Kelvin and through to the Constitution refit.

that's the thing, they look like fine precursors to the ships of the 23rd century... of the kelvin timeline. not that i'm complaining, i like that look.

I'm not sure how, they don't look like anything from the Kelvin Timeline.

And we've already seen ships from that era in the movies.

I think, at this point, they need to dig up the corpse of Matt Jefferies. Or, bring Andy Probert into the fold (yes I know about his "shortcomings").

Because of the complete randomness to the designs, some of the DSC ships look like they fit in the time period (the Engle class is very reminiscent of the NX-01), some look like they’d fit in better post-TUC (the Crossfield and Hoover classes come to mind) and some look like they wouldn’t have stood out too much as part of the Sector 001 fleet in ST:FC (the Cardenas class). The Kelvin timeline ships, on the other hand, are both more believable precursors to the TOS time period, and their designs are pretty consistent with each other.

They really do. I'd say they look better than most of the original 24th Century stuff, besides the Intrepid-class.

Of course, the Defiant can kick all their asses. It's just not pretty. ;)

They have nothing in common with the 24th century designs, and they look older.
Look at their weapons, they're TOS movie style, not phaser strips like the 24th.
They have round TOS style bussard collectors.

I guess I don't see it or am willfully blind or something else or another...
    Such an ugly ship.

It would make more sense to get older ships going then to take the time to build a whole new fleet to rescue everyone.

The U.S.S. Kelvin may be the most TOS-like ship we've seen in the entire franchise since 2005.

They should have let him design the Disco ships. I'm sure he could have managed something that looks halfway between ENT and TOS and still looks cool. (Except not that horrific NX-01 refit. That is an abomination.)

They have his hallmark sharp angular features and cutouts. Eaves makes amazing Klingon ships, his style fits them really well.

Be aware - he did work on Star Trek Discovery ship designs as well.

They really don’t. They look nothing like his previous federation designs.

I’m not seeing the issue here.

That you don't see it doesn't mean it isn't there.

I don’t see it because it doesn’t exist.

I look at the sovereign (his only24th century Starfleet design), and I look at his DSC stuff, there is nothing there connecting them.

There is, you're just looking the details and not the overall style. Also, he has done quite a bit of non-canon Trek designs too. If you have seen some of them it becomes easier to see the overall pattern.

    I KNOW!

It's so beautiful that it's absolutely stunning and one can't take ones eyes off of it !!

    :nyah:

(it's essentially an over sized Defiant with a split TOS round hull stuck on the sides)
