Grace and Frankie is also in production on its seventh and final season.

The core cast of Grace and Frankie are all in their late 70s/early 80s and still going strong. I don't see why Sir Patrick would be any less capable.

Picard will last for 3 seasons. Stewart has said so himself.

Honestly hope 7 seasons as per TNG, DS9 and Voy. It's doing well enough, the show is getting better and better, and it's got a solid cast that we're getting to learn more about with each episode. It's great, and it would be great to have another long lasting Trek series.

Claims of a fourth season would be easier to believe if they actually had an air date for the third.

Perhaps CBS are waiting to see how Picard is received later this month even though Picard has already been renewed for a second season, the shows could tie in to each other somehow.

DSC season three will be the final season, IMHO. I don’t think anyone ever really knew just what the show was supposed to be about, so if they still can’t figure it out in season 3, they’ll probably just cancel it and recycle all the sets, props, uniforms, etc. for the Picard and (gasp) Section 31 shows, rather than waste time making a fourth season.

More like nearly 40 years his junior. Though that doesn't mean much. Hugh Heffner was in his last years married to someone 60 years younger than him. That didn't stop him from getting fragile and dying of old age. That said the three years they seemingly have planned for PIC aren't so long. Patrick Stewart will likely be fine for that time.

Even though I'll be happy with anything from five to seven, part of me kind of wants it to go an eighth season. Just to hear about the reaction from InfoWars Midnight's Edge.

"What?! Eight seasons?! How can this be?!??!!!! Clearly Alex Kurtzman, CBS All Access, and the Illuminati don't want to admit defeat! That's why they're keeping it going. Alex Kurtzman, you see is a Freemason and part of the same lodge as the Head of CBS. They have a special pact. Thus Star Trek: Discovery will never be cancelled so long as either of them lives. It doesn't matter how long the series lasts, it's still a failure and True Believers know it. But the plague of STD didn't stop with Discovery. No. It continued on to infect the revered Jean-Luc Picard. They got to Patrick Stewart too!"

If the show reaches five seasons, it’s done incredibly well in today’s environment. Especially on streaming, where a lot of shows are now lucky to get a third season currently, let alone more.

Anything past five seasons would be brilliant. Realistically, even if it ends after 4, it’s had a good run. My gut tells me CBSAA wouldn’t want to cancel before doing five though, minimum, just because there’s a lot of damage that a perceived early cancellation of Discovery in particular could do to their image.

It’s time to accept that Trek shows are going to generally have much shorter life spans, though. Some of the concepts they are playing with just don’t really seem to lend themselves to seven season runs. For me, I just want them to take as long as they need, per show, to tell the story that they want to tell. Could be 2-3 seasons, could be 6 - whatever works.
