I’m more disgusted with how fandom handled Lloyd. I mean, they were beating up on a kid, figuratively. Whenever fandom goes as low as you think they can possibly go, they always find a way to outdo themselves.
Sadly, I've come to realize over the last few years, that every time you asshole fans have hit the lowest point possible, they find a way to go even lower.
Well we have have already pretty much established these toxic "fans" are not going away and will continue exist. All that can be done is to minimise the impact they have and provide extensive support for the cast. What would you do?
Well, personally I think attacking anyone for any reason regardless is wrong. There is not one reason or excuse for any and all of it. Name calling and finger pointing is equally wrong. I am a Star Wars fan and equally a Star Trek fan as well and I am NOT a JERK and I take offense at any name calling. Because I like EVERYONE else who posts on here are a FAN in some form or fashion. Everyone is entitled to their opinions to treat others with respect and be treated with respect always. That's is what is wrong with the world now. Treat others the way YOU yourself would want to be treated equally. Two wrongs dont make anything right ever. Everyone has a right to make Star Wars or anything else better for when we found it, or when we leave it to others. -Koric .
Pros: JJ is far far far better at capturing kinetic action that RJ CONS: those.. vehicles are dumb, and the manner in which the troopers take off and fly is dumb, and the dialogue is dumb.
Yeah, the way the stormtroopers launch themselves into the air is kinda dumb. It's a classic example of doing what looks "cool" instead of doing what makes the most sense. Also, why doesn't Rey use the Force to aim your blaster better? Or even use the Force to toss the stormtroopers aside?
Its a 30 second clip. Its not the entire scene. And yeah, complaining about "cool" over what makes the most sense. Do you even Star Wars?
Yeah, this is complaining for the sake of it. I try my best to respect different points of view but I can't on hate watching.
I mean, it’s supposed to be fun. And I think it succeeds. Is it a little cheesy? Sure. But it looks like a promise of a good time.
I am a jerk, and wished there was a way to blow a certain segment of fandom out the proverbial airlock.
So apparently Disney has confirmed that a full script has leaked. Be careful on the internet if you want to avoid mega spoilers.
I think it looks like a blast. Like a total adventure movie, with quips and jokes and action and adventure. I am ready for it.
I think somewhere along the way, folks kinda lost sight that this was the main reason to go to the theater.
Cynicism has really become an issue in fandom. I don’t go to a Star Wars movie for a movie that is going to be everything I want to be. I have my notions of what I want but ultimately I’m along for the ride. I’m there to be entertained. And I’ve rarely been disappointed when it comes to Star Wars. Rise of Skywalker has a big mission - to not only wrap up the sequel trilogy but the whole Skywalker saga. That is a lot to put on a film and it’s creative team. But ultimately if it’s a fun 2.5 hours, cool by me! Even if it doesn’t check ALL the boxes in my head.
I was initially wary of ROS due to the return of a certain old foe - the sequel trilogy has been about the journey of the new characters, and it's their story - but I am becoming more and more intrigued with each passing day as to where this can go. On toxic fans, I have unfortunately had more than my fair share of run-ins with them, both with Star Wars and Star Trek. Some fans unfortunately think they can dictate who qualifies as fans, based on their own fan-interpretations and narratives.
I don't understand why people drop the 'T' from the abbreviations for The Empire Strikes Back and The Rise of Skywalker, but that's neither here nor there.
For awhile I tended to fight harder than I should have against the gatekeepers. I hate that they do it, and I may argue with a few on occasion, but nowhere near the level I did four years ago.
