it's not cullshit when we talk about why a movie doesn't work.. it can be something small yet something that feels "off" to a big thing like why Rey is not really a character. .. it all feeds into whether this last film will work or not
Great idea! Did I mention that I thought that the final trailer was awesome? Well, I thought so. I'm looking forward to finding out what it is that Rey is confronting. Does anyone else think there's a shot that makes it look she might be confronting something/someone who is substantially taller than she is, maybe even something cybernetic? I'm just letting the speculation flow here; it lasts just a few frames.
First, I think its the throne we see earlier in the trailer. But I don't think its Palps in the flesh. That we don't see his face but hear his voice is fairly telling. Also. the "Is Matt Smith still in this movie?" question has not been answered.
Also I did not bring it up. I was just responding to an absurd claim that "she is not a mary sue, no matter what"
The leaks for TFA were about 70% accurate. I think that much of what is in the trailer is referenced in the leaks. However, I'm not going to suggest they're 100% accurate at this time. Rey holding a dagger might not mean exactly what the leaks suggest they do. They might. We just don't know.
While it looks cool, I think it would be pretty dangerous to the wielder to run with an extended light saber.
Trailer was good, looking forward to it! Happy it wasn't a totally spoilery trailer that gave everything away! And the Ghost poping up! SQUEEEE! Jacen Syndulla!! ( probably not hera, I mean she'd be like 70's by this timeframe.. I don't know Twilek lifespans.. but ?? ) Look for a 35ish old human with a green tint to skin and hair!
There's a lot of imagery in the trailer that matches details from the leaks, but context is key and so we can't make any judgments about whether or not the narrative that we've heard about works until we see the movie.
^ If you did, I'm just reiterating it. Something that I want to know based on the trailer is if the opening bits with Rey in the jungle are actually happening or if that environment is just in her head.
If you believe the leaks they are. But as has been suggested: context is key. I think the scene in the very obvious Imperial setting (probably the Death Star) is echoing the jungle scenes.
The way the opening bits of the trailer were cut together gave me the impression that Rey was seeing a jungle environment that wasn't actually there as she descended into the ruins of the Death Star II, which is why I want to know if said jungle environment is real.... which isn't a question that the leaks can answer.
That could be the case. Or one event could be calling back to another earlier in the movie. We won't know until we see the movie.
Despite TLJ being my least favourite of the entire SW series I liked the look of this trailer a lot. If nothing else at least they're going for some proper other-worldly shit, especially with that Ice planet, which just reminded me of the 1980 Flash Gordon movie, but in a good way. The world building has been one of my biggest criticism of the ST, so it at least looks like we're getting some smart looking locations here.
This topic has re-affirmed what I already know...... This topic is filled with way too many small minded, toxic men with ego issues. I love the new characters, and I'll be sad knowing this will probably be the last movie with them. But if the send off is good, I can deal with. Now, about the trailer.... Is it me, or is there a face reflected in Rey's eyes in the final shot??
If Rey is descending into the Death Star wreckage (which I didn't realize), then the forest is probably real and it's on Endor (which I assumed while watching).
