IDK - I think the film worked better than Alan Moore's comic book version. That said, for me, the only real interesting characters were Dr. Manhattan (if this is a sequel, he's now gone off to peruse godhood); Rorschach (a frozen stain somewhere in Antarctica); the Comedian (Dead) and Ozymandias (Who is a big sociopath - and might make an interesting Villain; but given the situation, the two who know what happened - and for me the two most uninteresting characters in the group) will stay silent; or at best be ineffective as their a couple of idiots compared to Ozymandias.

So yeah, I'll take a look, but I'm not really all that 'enthused'. Who knows? Maybe I will like it.

I read an interview saying that the show will focus on race relations and white supremacy. That just doesn't sound like Watchmen to me, so I am a bit less excited.

I don't really know the comic, I loved the movie and there was nothing in the trailer that made me feel I NEED to see this. Except perhaps Jeremy Irons.

    Skip for me.

If you loved the movie, why not give it a chance? Vibe seems very similar at least.

I found the movie dull and overly ponderous. I think it's a novel that requires more space. I think the idea of the show--using the world and the themes of the novel rather than straight up adaptation--is a savvy idea.

    I'll give it a go.

It looks like Dr. Manhattan is going to be on the show if the blue hand in one of the trailers is anything to go by.

My favourite superhero movie by quite a way.

The comic ending wouldn't have worked in a live action movie so I'm a little sad the TV show follows the book.

The movie was great, but it wasn't the graphic novel - the form itself was important to what Moore's original story was. Similar in a way to the limits of a film version of a Joyce novel.

I think it's a clever change from the book and a smart way of streamlining the story--combining the sidelining of Manhattan and making him the "villain" in the public's eye.

I'm looking forward to it but I probably won't be watching it weekly since my show plate is kinda full right now I'm barely finding time to keep up with the DC shows leading up to the Crisis, so I'll just binge it over the winter hiatus.

There was a street scene with Dan & Laurie that eerily looked just like the comic.

I think it’ll be available here tomorrow night; I’ll try to watch it then. From what I can tell, Lindelof seeme very invested in it.

So what the hell was that crap? Lindelof must have been thinking "how do I make a race baiting show and get anyone to see it" and came up with the idea of slapping the name of a popular comic onto it, despite it having no connection - thematic or plot - to it at all. Biggest bait and switch I've ever seen!

It was alright, should've just made a show about dystopian police and race relations reflecting the current weirdness and passed on the Watchmen connections. That stuff was fun to spot I guess but almost unnecessary frosting. I'm sure HBO would've backed a project like this from Lindelof without the Moore/Gibbons connection.

Enjoying seeing right-wingers melting down over their beloved Steve Ditko Mr. A parody hero leading to a white supremacist terror group, tho. Probably the legacy of an actual Randian directing the film. He didn't get that part of it.

What would be fun is if they take the New Frontiersman, and it's an Info Wars type group and the journal is filtered through those scumbags over all these years, inspiring all the terror groups. Tie Ozy into it somehow who makes sure they never reveal the secret of what happened in 85.

Shame seeing Don Johnson out early, but I'm sure we'll get some juicy flashbacks wherein he is revealed to be a filthy bastard or somesuch... what with that lingering shot of the photo.

Also, I admit - when Looking Glass was doing his drawl, I automatically spat out "they loved him up and turned him into... a HORNY TOAD!"

Honestly, Rorschach was the only character I really wound up rooting for in Moore's Watchmen.

On one level Rorshach is just Batman without Wayne's money.

I was going to watch the episode today, but after doing some research, I realized that I need more background on the comic and its world, so I'm going to instead finish getting caught up with a Watchmen-focused podcast today and then watch the episode tomorrow instead.
