I liked what we got with Andor enough to be curious to learn more about his backstory in the series. The fact that we didn't learn a ton about him in the movie actually makes me more curious to see the series.
https://discussingfilm.net/2019/07/...t-episodes-of-cassian-andor-series-exclusive/ Rick Famuyiwa may direct some of the episodes, since apparently Disney and Lucasfilm were pleased with his directorial efforts on The Mandalorian. The article also mentions that he may direct some episodes of the second season of The Mandalorian. Sounds to me like they may try to keep a lot of the same people working on their different shows. Filming is hoped to begin on October 7, which I would file under the category of sooner rather than later. So that's cool. Also, there have been a couple articles floating around lately about how disappointed Diego Luna was when he realized he was done with the Star Wars universe. Like this one: https://www.syfy.com/syfywire/diego-luna-cassian-andor-star-wars Unsurprisingly, he's looking forward to the tv show as much as any of the fans are.
Tony Gilroy will be directing multiple episodes. https://variety.com/2019/tv/news/cassian-andor-series-tony-gilroy-diego-luna-disney-plus-1203370479/ Gilroy is set to write the pilot for the series in addition to directing multiple episodes. He will work alongside Stephen Schiff, who remains onboard as showrunner. Another case of Lucasfilm bringing back someone they've had a good experience with on a previous project.
The Cassian Andor show welcomes aboard new writer and executive producer... George Lucas. (?)(!!!) https://nerdbot.com/2020/02/07/geor...uYno3iUAjK1ZCy5xwQquRQLeVQWgc-tTSyRIDQsYMKUY0 Disclaimer: this has not been officially confirmed, but I thought it was too cool a bit of news not to share, even if it turns out to be a false rumor.
Lucas is kind of an unlikely choice for what's probably going to be a darker show IMO. But definitely will drum up excitement.
"So, the first thing we've gotta do, is cut that scene in Rogue One where Cassian kills his informant, because an honorable hero would never do that. The Disney+ version can be changed right away, but we'll also need to recall as many unsold discs as possible." ... Seriously, who actually wants this?
I think it'd be interesting. Despite what petulant detractors might claim, Lucas seriously pushed the limits of what a family entertainment could do (on Cartoon Network no less) so I've no doubt he could have fun with a darker tone. That said, I hiiiiiiighly doubt this is real. Pretty sure he just very recently came out and said he'd be willing to come back, if and only if he had full creative control (and I can't blame him.) Talking over someone else's project just doesn't seem to jive with that notion. He's more likely to start over from scratch with something, or maybe at most, dust off 'Underworld'.
Yeah, and I also can't see him working on a show focused on a character from a movie he didn't work on. Now, if this was Obi-Wan series, I might find it at least a tiny bit more plausible.
According to Diego Luna the show will start shooting sometime this year. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.et...ies-will-shoot-this-year-exclusive-141385?amp
https://discussingfilm.net/2020/02/26/jonathan-freeman-joins-cassian-andor-series-exclusive/ The show now has a cinematographer.
No, it definitely is. Obviously Disney is just doing this to hide how disappointing Star Wars is for them.
