This was quite funny. I actually let it all play (including the post-credits scene, which was quite funny in itself) and then replayed the entire episode. The captain's final line "He was an idiot." was precious. I wished I had seen the admirals' reaction to that line! LOL

The cuteness of tribbles prevents them from dealing with how Australians would: spacing them.

That's how they finally got rid of the cane toad in the 23rd century.

    That and the nuclear war.

It was OK. The opening shot of Enterprise was great. I will be happy with a Short Trek that only shows Enterprise flying through the space.

The Cabot captain did what she could under the circumstances. In other episodes, they are shown to overwhelm an area quickly and in that was when they were not enhanced. I am not sure if the ability to self-destroy the ship was even possible after the tribbles had invaded the ship's circuitry.

Nightmare fuel - I read the find print with the commercial, where it said that the tribbles could survive being eaten and could multiply in the digestive tract. The thought of those creatures multiplying quickly in the body, causing it to bloat and explode is terrifying to imagine.

If spectrum refers to the autistic spectrum, I can tell you as someone who is autistic - Nope. He is not autistic. He has other mental issues.

Memory Alpha has it stated that the ship exploded, with the tribbles somehow surviving in space and invading the planet nearby, named Pragrine 63, after surviving re-entry. Nope. I believe two scenarios more likely - either another ship came to investigate the wreck, being infected in the process, - we hear of the Cabot rendezvousing with a transport, or the Cabot itself falling from orbit and crashing into the planet. Tribbles might be the equivalent of rats, who hitched a ride on ships.

Aren't these basically the same thing? It could explode and some tribbles survived in larger pieces of wreckage........

Well, the Columbia exploded into large and small pieces and roundworms survived the event.

When I imagine the Cabot crashing into the planet, I was thinking more like what happened to the Enterprise-D saucer in Generations. The computer could have switched to autopilot, doing a hard landing on the planet. It would have been nifty if they were more specific on how the tribbles found their way to the surface of Pragrine 63.

So my read is that the episode takes place immediately after Q&A, with Spock joining the crew to replace Lucero. Or, since Spock is still a lowly ensign, perhaps Spock is replacing a junior science officer who got promoted to fill Lucero's spot as department head?

Shouldn't they have their phasers set to wide beam and start mass killing the Tribbles instead of using single shot?

What about Full Auto at low power for their phasers to kill those bloody Tribbles?

And I bet Tribbles would make a ultimate Bio Weapon against a species you hate.

I think it might be a button on the exterior of a flap covering the top of the little pocket. Could be a knife sheath on the boot, part of some Starfleet survival gear.

I wasn’t a fan at first since I wasn’t a fan of genetically modifying the Tribbles but I did some research and Phlox does say in Enterprise that they do breed fast and so these must be a different type of Tribble. That could also explain the other issue with them forgetting that they need to eat to breed. They don’t just pop out.

i also thought that Alita was way too young to be captain but I looked up her age and saw she was 34. I would have guessed early 20’s looking at her. kirk must have been slightly younger then when he became captain.

Can’t be since they are wearing the proper uniforms on the new ship. Must be after season 2.

Best one yet! Thanks for posting about the post credits ad, as I wouldn't have found it otherwise. This crew really did remind me of the scientists I work with. I think I am Edward.

Well, only one shuttlecraft worth of crew evacuated the ship at the end, so either it's got a very small crew or the tribbles ate most of them. ;)

    Kidding. Kidding.

    You forgot the 11 ;)

I guess I'll have to settle for giving it a 10.

Well, they didn't bother to make Pike look a little younger re: the gray hair, so you could be right.

This is the second Short in a row with a musical number. They played the "Johnny Appleseed" song (by Bing Crosby, I think) during the scenes they were trying to cleanup the tribbles. I wonder if all the Shorts this season will be part musical.
