Well, the season's off to a complicated start, with multiple plotlines set in motion. Not only Ramsey Rosso's origin as the new villain (Bloodwork), but setting up Chester P. Runk (a character called Chunk in the comics) and his black-hole powers, the mystery of the duplicate Godspeeds sent back from the future, and of course the looming threat of the Crisis. Plus the setup of subplots like Killer Frost taking the wheel and Ralph looking for Sue Dearbon. Will it all converge? We'll see.

Using the Flash Gordon theme song was at once kitschy and pretty cool. But the "black hole" was weirdly directional. It sucked up things right in front of it, but the buildings it appeared between were totally unaffected by its gravity.

Man, the Monitor's a jerk. First he makes a deal with Oliver and says "You have to die so that Barry and Kara can live." Then he comes to Barry and says "Sorry, dude, you have to die." Ollie's gonna be peeved when he finds out.

It was a solid premiere. I found the mystery of the week a bit underwhelming. But the character interaction was all top-notch. I really enjoyed the cookout at the beginning.

Cecille is quickly becoming my favorite character in the whole Arrowverse. Nicolet seems to have so much fun and she brings a delightful charm to every scene she's in. It's something I started picking up on last year and now I can't get enough of it. The scene with Iris was simple yet so touching. She and JLM really make for wonderful parental figures in a franchise that's otherwise starved for them.

And I'm going to go out on a limb and say I think post-Crisis Frost is going to become the dominant personality.

Now did I miss something or did Barry go into the black hole with his season 5 costume and come out with the season 6 one?

I didn't notice. However, I did notice the overall quality of the CGI seemed to regress a bit. I wonder if they've resorted to reusing as many assets as the can because they're really penny-pinching for Crisis.

Perhaps because it was a setup for a continuing character arc rather than a one-and-done.

She's still a telepath, right? I keep thinking they need to give her a costume and a code name already.

No, he was wearing the Season 6 the entire time.

Yeah, when Cisco was talking about weaving the quantum-computer filaments from Nora's gauntlet into the Flash's suit and so forth, that was meant to be the excuse for making the new suit, although it's clearly a totally different suit that he seemed to whip up in a matter of minutes, so it was kind of awkwardly justified.

I enjoyed the episode, and I enjoyed the casual interactions of the characters more than the plotline. I really liked Iris and Caitlyn's arcs too and I'm looking forward to getting to know Frost better. I don't read the comic books so I wonder if Killer Frost actually does change her name to something a little less, "final".

Apparently the current comics version, on whom the TV character is based, has just gone by "Frost" since her reform, as does the kid-friendly version in DC Super Hero Girls. The previous comics versions (Crystal Frost and Louise Lincoln) never reformed and thus never had a reason to drop the "Killer."

I enjoyed the episode. The stuff Chester and the Black Hole was OK, the character stuff was definitely the highlight of the episode. Lots of great character interactions, the cookout was a fun scene, and the stuff with Barry and Iris dealing with the loss of Nora was good. I'm looking forward to seeing what they do with Killer Frost now that she's going to be in charge of her and Caitlin's body more. As for the name, I would think the easiest thing to do would just be to drop the Killer and go by Frost. The set up for Rosso and his turn into Bloodwork was good.
I'm not quite sure what to make of the fake Godspeed at the beginning, that felt like a set up for a big arc, but then after the episode got going they just kind of dropped it.

I was underwhelmed by the "villain", but I liked the episode overall. I loved the use of Queen, and Cisco saying he had the song prepped since day one :techman: I was a bit worried that they were trying to get rid of Killer Frost, but the opposite seems to be the case, which is cool.

I don't think I'm going to be a fan of the "big" villain they're setting up. But I liked last season a lot even though cicada sucked, and this season is apparently supposed to have two different big villains, so even if this one is underwhelming, it probably won't effect what I think of the show too much.

I fell out during season 5 because it was just awful.. i couldn't stand Chris Klein's abysmal "acting", the storyline and where the show was going.. the only thing keeping me was the really brilliant Nora but that was not enough.

Gave it another shot with the season premiere but i think i'm done.. it may not be fair to judge the state of a show with the season premiere but i just wasn't in it anymore. I liked the family BBQ scene and using Queen's Flash made me laugh and sing along but other than that is was just so mediocre and business as usual.

I might tune in again for the Crisis crossover (and be prepared to only understand half of it since i basically quit all CW superhero shows) but it's just curiosity to see what they end up with after it's done.

I felt that this was my favorite of the premieres so far by a lot. No politics, no sanctimonious jabs at the government--just a good old fashioned superhero story.

I don't really care about Bloodwork. It's all about the COIE for me, though Barry showed why he's my favorite of the main show characters. Ultimately, saving the life of a person he doesn't know was the most important thing to him. It wasn't even about saving the city. It was about that one man. Barry was so desperate to save him that he ran into a black hole. We can ignore what the existence of a real black hole would do in our world.

Barry did what he did out of pure selflessness and a need to help others. He was just a hero being a hero. I loved it.

It's possible that this scene with Barry happened earlier in the Monitor's personal timeline/history than the deal with Olliver. Alternatively, the Monitor may have come to the conclusion that the only way to save both the universe and Barry is for Team Flash to be convinced that Barry's death is inevitable.

Oliver's deal with the Monitor in "Elseworlds" was so Barry and Kara wouldn't die during those events -- i.e., while racing to slow down time -- as Clark foresaw in the Book of Destiny. The deal wasn't to make them immortal going forward.

Yeah, this is my feeling too. It was a fine season premiere, I'm glad they finally brought in Chunk--who, actually, I hope sticks around. But, still, the show feels meh.

I could be just done and bored with the whole Arrowverse at this point. While I'm excited for COIE, I might stop after that point. It's sort of like Endgame, a good point to walk away content.

It's a shame you feel that way, but I sort of understand. I'm not going to watch Batwoman, and Black Lightning is teetering with me. I didn't like the premiere. Arrow is ending and I couldn't care less about Arrow's daughter in the dark future. I'm on the fence as to whether I will watch, though knowing me, I might give it a shot. That leaves The Flash and Legends. I like Legends, and will definitely finish watching. The Flash? That one I still very much enjoy and will continue.

Did they change they way Killer Frost's eyes look? Kaitlyn's irises go light when she transforms, but have they always returned to dark once Killer Frost appears, as in this episode? or did the lighting just make them look darker than usual?

I thought the deal was that Barry and Supergirl would survive the Crisis.

Regardless, I noticed that the Monitor said "The Flash" has to die rather than "Barry" has to die. That could be a loophole.

I noticed that too. That could mean either Earth 2 Flash or Earth 90 Flash as well.
