You don't say it directly, but I assume "He" is Donald Trump.
I put his physical statistics into some online life expectancy calculators - note that he will be 78 in January 2025.

Nothing absolves the specific point of what Jayson1 posted, which was nothing more than rubbing the crystal ball and hoping there's a likelihood of said person dying. Anyway you cut that its despicable & inexcusable and simply shows just how dark/ill-minded some are.

I wasn't hoping for his death. I think he should he should be in prision very much alive. I wasn't even talking about him. It was about a even bigger threat than a single person. Jason

What happened with Mosley was horrible. But, in this scenario, I'm glad he was just a writer for the one episode he was working on. His being a freelancer sheds some light on this subject. He wasn't staff. He rubbed the staff the wrong way. And, technically being freelance, he's his own boss, so he decided "The Hell with this" and walked off. It was a gig, not a job. So this all makes more sense now.

I'm a freelancer myself. As a videographer, not a writer, but still. It's good to be a free agent. Except when it's not... but that's a whole other story.

 

If he hadn't finished, or if they don't want to pay him, becuase Walter bugged out, not because "he's racist" is Walter's story going to have to be scrapped? Alternatively can Walter sue or negotiate to have his work retracted, becuase these people do not deserve his sweat?

 

If he put in any time, I think he should be paid. But if he signed a contract and is in breach, they might have a clause that says they don't have to pay him. Fine print and all that. But I think he should be paid if he was there. Whether it's a partial amount or the full amount, I don't know. But he should definitely be paid if they use any of what he wrote. If they don't use any of what he wrote, then it becomes blurrier, and it depends upon the terms that were agreed to.

But, even though it's not the same thing, I've always been paid for any video work I've done, whether the videos I recorded were used or not. One time time I got paid a hefty amount for something a company never did anything with. That's why I prefer recording sports. Someone always has a use for those videos. Whether it's the coach, the players, or their families.

I have no idea about the suing or retraction. Depends on what he agreed to, whatever his contract might've been.

 

I'd say this speculation is entirely irrelevant. Mosley doesn't seem interesting in trying to 'take back his work' at all. He wanted to tell his story to make a point and he did. Job done. And there's not a chance in hell anyone with a brain at CBS would want that story to be followed up with 'and then they refused to pay him', regardless of whether they'd be within their legal rights to do so or not. They made their statement (as friendly towards Mosley as they could possibly make it without throwing themselves under the bus) and now they want to move on and forget the whole thing, not keep dredging up more problems from it.

 

He might have something like a morals clause they say he violated. Granted CBS would look horrific doing something like that over money. Jason

 

If any part of his ideas do end up being used in an episode, then my guess is that he'll use a pen name for the credit and be done with it.

Jumping ahead a bit before reading this thread all the way through.

I read Mosley years ago and loved his work. I didn't even know he was a writer on this show until I heard he was fired in this incident. Very shocking, it amazes me how common pretextual firings are. There is no way he was not fired for a reason that we are not really being told about.

It makes no sense to create this problem for a company over, really, him using that word to describe something in his own life, where it would make sense to use the word.

 

He wasn't fired, he quit.

Mosley was informed that there was a complaint, and that's it, no penalties, or consequences, and he quit.

 

Thank you for the correction, the place I had seen it talked about talked about it in stark and negativistic terms. Something tells me that the company was probably relieved it was that simple, then.
