Dude, really? C'mon man, you're better than this. Here is what I'm telling you, the Raiders were one of the loosest, most unorthodox organizations the NFL had ever seen after Al Davis became the boss. He made it clear that ALL he cared about was winning, which made it that much easier for them to acquire quality talent that other teams around the league other teams were were afraid of. Davis didn't sweat guys for doing knucklehead stuff as long as their performance made up for it. As for on the field, most coaches would describe the Raiders as "unorthodox", but a fair amount was just lack of discipline. The Raiders have always been one of the most penalized teams in league history. Two reasons for that, the Raiders were ultra aggressive, and they didn't care about penalties because they won in spite of the penalties. That sound like the Cowboys to you, or Don Shula, or Bud Grant? The Raiders beat those teams because they had better players, not because they were all disciplined and rigid in their thinking. You're trying to apply your general 'knowledge" of the NFL to a specific team about which you apparently know very little. I guarantee you that if Al still owned the Raiders, there is no way he would have cut AB for the silly shenanigans he pulled in Oakland. And I'll tell you something else, if Davis were still running the Raiders and he thought he needed a back up quarterback, there is no way he would not give Kap a tryout BTW, your post was pretty much a straw man you created because what, you felt like you need a "win"? I don't know.
I’m not the one saying that a team ran by a former football coach believed in letting the players do whatever they wanted. I’m also not the one equating trying to miss a two-a-day here and there with missing the entirety of training camp pissing around over a helmet. Even Al Davis had his limits on what he’d put up with. You just seem to be oddly unable to let Brown go. He didn’t want you, for whatever reason, it was clear.
Looking it up, you're right, it was the 1981 Colts. I'm amazed the reboot Browns didn't smash that record, those early years were dire.
Miami will shatter that record, Grier and Flores will get fired, and Kellen Moore will likely be the head coach next year.
Definitely sounded like a man who would think training camp and practice were important... https://www.si.com/nfl/2019/08/27/a...ign=social-share-article&utm_content=20190916
I know the LOLphins are a joke, but with that plus the Steelers game, pats offense is starting off pretty hot, and defense is pretty legit in the early going. 76 scored to 3 given up after two games. They’ve given up 6 points in the past 3 full games if you carry the Super Bowl through. Hope they can find enough living OL folks to keep Brady upright through, injuries there already getting nuts.
Not surprising given that Drew Brees went out in the first quarter. I heard he's staying in Los Angeles to consult a hand expert? That'll change the power dynamics in NFC. The Rams, Seahawks, and 49ers (!) are all 2-0.
If Brees misses a lot of time, that significantly affects the landscape of the NFC. Who in that division can step up to take advantage? The Falcons? Their offensive line is a huge issue and Ryan is throwing an awful lot of picks, though his chemistry with his receivers is undeniable. The Panthers? They have a mountain to climb down 0-2, and Cam just doesn’t look himself. How about the Bucs? That defense is looking mighty impressive with Todd Bowles at the helm. Or are the Saints talented enough to control the division even with Bridgewater under center?
They need to give Taysom Hill a shot at some point. He is more likely the future of the Saints than Bridgewater.
I didn’t see the play but apparently it was a non-contact injury. As an old man that happens to me all the time!
Have to wonder if Mason Rudolph plays well, if this is the end of the line for Big Ben in Pittsburgh?
Yes! Ouch. Meanwhile Rams TE Tyler Higbee was coughing up blood in the hospital last night... https://sports.yahoo.com/amphtml/rams-tyler-higbee-taken-hospital-152852732.html
Guess I’m rooting for the Jets tonight. I prefer a team actually win something before acting like they are a dynasty.
