Computers think way faster than us.

Unless the machines are handicapping themselves inside the Matrix to keep the framework in place, we don't stand a chance.

Although if Humans were genetically engineered to have the metabolism of a humming birds, or faster... We would think faster and produce more electricity, but it would greatly reduce our life spans.

While it was inevitable that another film would happen, I'm surprised that it's not being made by and starring a new set of people. (I'll be equally surprised if Laurence Fishburne and Hugo Weaving aren't coming back too.)

One thing I hope the film somehow deals with is the way that the originals have been co-opted by the Far Right, who are obviously as far away from the Wachowskis and their beliefs as you can get.

I wasn't aware of this. How were they co-opted?

Google "alt-right matrix red pill" and be careful where you tread...

Given that hindsight brings the Trilogy into focus as a Trans allegory, I can't help but wonder if the fourth film - as the first to be written and directed by one of the Wachowskis post-transition - will be more overt in its 'coding'.

I wasn't speaking negatively when I made that comment. I was just wondering if the story would be more overtly reflective of who Lana is as a person.

Will wait and see what they come up with.. I liked the trilogy.. but most of the stuff they've done since has been a dung heap..

Forget Morpheus; I want Niobe back... And it sounds like I may get my wish.

I read recently that the producers utilized The Matrix Online to continue the story of the films. So, they might pull pieces from those storylines to set the backdrop for this new film.

Narratively, I can see a story where things have degenerated back into the violence and oppression that Neo's actions halted, prompting his return.

Trinity's return is harder to account for, but I have confidence in Lana.

Which is deeply hilarious given The Matrix is a trans narrative, the red pill is an estrogen pill (which were red at the time).

I’m looking forward to this. I was worried that the Wachowskis were retiring after Sense8 ended.

Shhh! Don't drag facts into this! You know how much they hate facts!

Since finding out that David Mitchell (Cloud Atlas, many other novels) is one of the co-writers for the script, I'm cautiously curious about this now.

Is it? Sure, he gets reborn and all, but the protagonist goes from an office worker and loser hacker to a gun-toting, fist-fighting warrior who scores an adoring girlfriend without really trying. I'm sure one can read subtle cues around the edges if one looks for them, but it hardly strikes me as out of step with dominant narratives of masculinity or gender in general. It'll certainly be interesting to see if this next movie brings less conventional gender signifiers to the forefront...

    Historical records.

All recordings from the Matrix are as real as the past, if the tech is there which it probably is, since its literally just backing up data.

If the Matrix can generate simulations, from a backup then we are looking at data sets mimicking alternate timelines.

Rebirth has nothing to do with either.

Neo in the beginning represents a closeted trans woman. Does his job, appears like the average guy at work and goes by Mr Anderson. But there is a hidden life online with a new name, Neo which is his true name. In the 90s, there were many trans communities online if you knew where to look. So Neo escapes the Matrix and becomes his true self in the real world. He’s now Neo and goes by it the rest of the movie, except for one character. Agent Smith is cisnormality, he looks like a perfectly average man. He calls Neo by his deadname, enforcing rules that trap humanity, and tries to destroy any deviation by death or making them so miserable they come back. Neo becomes the One, not because he dies and comes back, but because he accepts that he is the One. Before he had self doubt, but he was always Neo and the One.

You write what you know and the Wachowskis were closeted trans women in the 90s. You do have to consider who a creator is, because it does influence the art. It’s the key to understanding it because it’s the artist’s attempt to depict something only they can do. Say what you want about the quality of the product, but there is something distinct about their films and they seem to be making whatever they want instead of conventional movies.

I have no idea what the sequels represent. But there is some interesting imagery in The Second Renaissance, which is the one they wrote.

At 0:41, that really happens and it’s interestingly surrounded by scenes of famous atrocities but with machines as the victim.

^I think people are way over thinking the whole Matrix thing.

They have been hinting at this for years. I'm just surprised it's not a 'rebootuation', kind of like Jurassic World, new people, same basic idea as the past ones.
