I can improvise an interminable speech in front of any crowd at a moment's notice. I have done it many times. That's kind of a gift that I have.

^have you considered a career in politics?
@Delta Vega : yes, maths can be fun: picture the faces of my colleagues when in the lunch break I calculate the surface of a slice of bread, using an integral. It's so much fun to see people go green and trying to sidle away discreetly *does evil scientist trademark cackle*:hugegrin:

Well, the one thing I am missing is political convictions. I am of the opinion that there's nothing much that can be done about society. Things sort of evolve on their own. Politicians spend half of their time promising you that things will get better and the other half explaining why they didn't. The truth is, it's out of their control.

that's sad but very propably true. In German, we have a special word to describe that frame of mind: Politikverdrossenheit, which might be translated a little freely as "political weariness".
And elections tend to be only a choice of the lesser evil, lately.

Random fact about myself: I'm interested in genealogy and am atm building up a family archive.

If I never do anything else noteworthy in the world, at least I brought 3 new people into the world, and I think that is pretty great.

My favorite actors (Vaughn Armstrong and Tricia O’Neil) are pretty much unknown outside of Trek, but I like them - because they remind me of my parents.

Admiral Forrest pretty much is my dad, and Captain Garrett is what I imagine my mom must have been like in her prime (my mom died of MS when I was 11, and she’d been sick since I was 2...I have absolutely no memory of her when she was well :( ).

On a happier note, though, I also like these actors because they’re damn GOOD at what they do. Both Trek “repeat offenders”! :vulcan:

So? There are no proofs of the existence of Jesus, independent of the Christian dogma and that puts Jesus at the same level of credibility as Ganesha, the god with an elephant head.

Just kidding, no offense meant. Somewhat belatedly welcome to the board! We're a bit crazy but mostly harmless (lol, does that count as a random fact about all of us?)

Sure you can. Fail to pay your taxes and see how long it takes the state to remind you not only that you exist but that you owe them a bundle of money!!! They wouldn't do that to someone that doesn't exist, would they?

^and both my parents are atheists and I was an atheist--the only one in my high school class. I have a lot of experience with being the odd one out--on multiple levels!
